Went to install the Mopar side rails this afternoon on my Jan2015 build overland, studied the instructions for a bit before I starter and kept noticing this step that required chipping away at something and removing, couldn't really figure it out but went ahead and started the install.
Progressed through the install on both sides and on the last bracket I pull off the rubber grommet (there are 6 on each side of the car) that covers the holes where the attachment point goes and notice there is injected foam that needs to be chipped away to make room for the attachment post as the instructions call for. But none of the other points on the car had this, just this one single area driver side rear - weird.
Do some research and it looks like Jeep injects some acoustic foam to cut down on noise in specific cavities within the structure, however, I AM MISSING all but one small area of this foam, it doesn't appear in the other spots it should.
Anyone else have this problem? Or has anyone else installed the mopar side rails and noticed the foam?
Here is a link detailing the exact spots it should be (this is a Cherokee but I have read articles that the Grand Cherokee uses this foam as well so assuming similar spots are treated and this was the only good visual I could find on it):

Always thought my car was a tad bit louder than the others I test drove, but attributed that to the 20" wheels over the 18" when I was testing limiteds vs overlands.
Attached pictures of the area I am talking about as well as the instruction step that details the removal of some of the foam to make way for the attachment.
