Re: Model Year 2012 Mercedes Benz ML350

It does kind of look like a Toyota Highlander now that you say that...

Overall I like it, the exterior's not great, I prefer the previous ML in that regard but I like the interior (other than those DVD screens).

Not a lot of point in saying whether someone would buy this or the Jeep, this starts where the Jeep tops out, a lot of these buyers won't even consider the Jeep.

Re: Model Year 2012 Mercedes Benz ML350

So, is the ML really in the same category as a wk2....

Maybe its personal preference, but for me, the appeal of the jeep is that it is one of the few vehicles that have true off road capability. Does the ML had low range? Locking rear diff? Availabilty of 18 wheels...good approach angle...etc...( don't think so, but maybe i am wrong)

If i wanted a x over suv, i think the ML would be something i would look at, along with the mdx, x5, cayenne, etc...

But if i want a suv that has what i call true 4x4 capability, and if you want a bit of luxury with it, its a small field...lr4, wk2, etc....and at the 40k price point, i think its unique.

Not saying the wk2 doesn't compete on that level, but for me, thats not it's niche...again, YMMV....

Does a Cayenne have a low range? If not, while a great car in many respects, i wouldn't classify it as an off road vehicle....(and i am not suggesting thats the only test, but IMHO, its a material one).....

Ditto suprand, I have the same thoughts. This is my 2nd GC Limited and I didn't consider buying anything else after seeing the 2011's. Closing in on 10k miles without any issues.
