It does none of that.

I bought the system with Silver support.

All I get is a call button in my Jeep that you use to signal them in an emergency only. They would call you back on cell. If unable they could call for help. Also if your Jeep us towed away it would let you know via cell.

But far as I that's it.

Other things are available at more cost. But no remote start or other advanced things.

I felt like it was a rip off. I told them so. Once 30 days is up they wouldn't give me any refund

Now I sold my jeep.....no refund. I tries to transfer to new owner .... they won't do that either.

Guidepoint is the company.

No insurance discount except liberty mutual.

Re: Mopar Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS)

My insurance is USAA and they already told me window etching and GPS tracking both offer discounts to your rate due to where I live (and the stupidly high amount of carjackings).

I am leaning more and more towards the viper install, even though it has a continual monthly fee. The new onstar phone app does everything the viper app does, comes stock on GM vehicles, AND it shows vehicle info like fuel level and a bunch of other things. I loved my chevy silverado (had to downsize again due to where I live and the woman) and OnStar was great just wish Chrysler would catch up to the rest of the market on this aspect.

Does anyone have any more thoughts on the Viper Smart Start GPS?

Re: Mopar Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS)

Just managed to find the most detailed info to date for the EVTS. It says that it is transferable not sure if that just means the hardware though.

Where can I find information on the Mopar Electronic Vehicle Tracking System? If Vehicle is Driven Too Fast or Too Far, System Sends a Text
• Mopar® Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS) helps locate stolen vehicles, features nationwide tracking
• Available in three packages: Base, Silver and Gold
• Silver plan allows owners to set speed and distance parameters; owners receive text alerts when limits are exceeded, perfect for fleet owners or worried parents
• Gold plan offers unlimited online tracking and full concierge service
• Mopar EVTS starts at $459

"Mopar’s new tracking system provides vehicle owners the peace of mind that comes with always knowing where their vehicle is located," said Pietro Gorlier, President and Chief Executive Officer – Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care. "And if someone else is driving their vehicle too fast or too far, the system can be enabled to send them a text."
Mopar’s system is powered by Guidepoint Systems, the leader in GPS-enabled stolen vehicle recovery systems. Unlike other vehicle tracking systems, the Mopar EVTS offers nationwide tracking without a subscription. The system is available on Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram Truck vehicles and vehicles with a 16-pin diagnostic data port.
The Mopar EVTS is offered in three packages: Base, Silver and Gold. The Base plan offers a GPS stolen-vehicle locator, real-time GPS stolen-vehicle tracking and a $1,000 theft-protection warranty. The system is transferable and upgradeable, with no subscription fees.
For added protection and service, owners may choose a Silver or Gold plan. The Silver plan includes ―Security Fence, a feature that allows owners to set speed and distance parameters for their vehicles. If and when set parameters are exceeded, a text alert is sent to the EVTS registered owner.
Other vehicle monitoring features available in the Silver plan include arrival/departure notification, historic trace maps of a vehicle’s past locations, 24/7 emergency service dispatch, automatic theft notification, online tracking and OnCall,™ an on-board panic button.
The Gold plan includes all of the features in the Silver package along with unlimited online tracking and a full concierge service, allowing vehicle owners to receive directions, make reservations and receive other needed assistance at the touch of a button using the EVTS registered owner’s cell phone.
Both Silver and Gold packages are available as a one-year, renewable service plan. The Gold Service Plan is available only at the time of activation. Optional service plans do not require additional hardware or installation charges.

The only one that Guidepoint had was Liberty Mutual.

I gave State Farm. They did onsrltar but would not give me 5 cents off.

Others have made claims......I highly doubt any of them actually get anything

Remember this is not On Star.

And yeah you can set up reports depending on level. Like iffy goes over xx MPH send me email.

And also landmarks.

The thing in the jeep is ONE WAY. they return your query with a phone calm.

So while you are in the ditch its calling you........

I still have an active account if anyone wants to see more. Its a Silver account.

Re: Mopar Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS)

I have USAA and it was about $50 off a year or so. It all depends where you live and how often there is an issue with stolen/jacked cars in your area. The closer you live to the hood, the more expensive your insurance is, and the more likely you will get a discount for a recovery device.

In their minds it is better to offer you something if it means they don't have to pay out a $40k vehicle. The sooner you find it the better off you are. If they find your vehicle on day 29 its yours and all the damage they did to it, whether you can see it or not is something you will have to deal with. At day 30 insurance companies pay out the lost of the vehicle, regardless if they find it on day 31 or later. The problem is alot of stolen/jacked cars that are found are "wailed" on and the thieves beat the crap out of your car, transmission, brakes, whatever after about 2 weeks. Go on you tube and look it up. You will see tons of high end cars getting abused.
