That part about insurance covering part of the service contract is not typical. Collision and Comprehensive insurance covers the physical car.'They do not insure contracts. More commonly the service contract itself has a clause for a prorated refund in the event of a total loss or theft.

Some insurance companies will pay under the liability insurance if they are paying to a third party based on their insured's negligence.

I missed that Bill. Thanks for bringing it up. I doubt that an insurance payoff would consider any extended service contract. Fortunately, that feature may already be in the contract...it certainly is in the MaxCare Lifetime where there is a pro-rate refund available for cancellation down the road.

I am not sure you are 100% correct. According to State Farm the Mopar Lifetimes Maximum Care Wrap Service Contract increases the value of my Jeep. Therefor if it were totaled the payoff/replacement value would be higher. Has to do with the insurance company making you "whole".

Re: "Mopar Vehicle Protection Plan" Letter a Sham?

I am contemplating purchasing an extended care plan.. probably Maximum Care. My jeep is currently less than a month old and has 1300+ miles on it.

Is there a difference between buying it from Zeigler versus Mopar/Jeep directly? Also, there is an actual Zeigler Jeep/Chrysler dealership out in the Chicago suburbs here. Any connection to the outfit that sells the care plan?

The only difference between buying the Mopar Service Contract from Zeigler versus Jeep/Chrysler is that Zeigler is several hundred dollars cheaper than Jeep/Chrysler. At the end of the day the Mopar Service Contract is tied to your VIN and it makes no difference where you buy it at or which CDJR dealer you use it at.

No connection with Zeigler other than I bought my Mopar Lifetime Maximum Care Wrap Service Contract from them and received great customer service from Bob Cline. The information was simply cut and pasted from the Zeigler Mopar Service Contract website. Maybe it is time for Zeigler to offer a group buy on service contracts for Jeep Garage members like I see from other dealers for Jeep vehicles.

Re: "Mopar Vehicle Protection Plan" Letter a Sham?

You can also purchase the MOPAR lifetime maximum care plan from any dealer that offers it. There are several that advertise it online. I bought mine recently from Clay at Zeller Motors via email clay@zellermotors.com for right at $2k which is better than what Zeigler offers and way below what Chrysler would sell them for. Your best bet is to shop around at several and use their quotes against each other to get them to come down. It's also better to get the quotes towards the end of the month which is when they sometimes make really good deals to meet their quotas.
