More GC reading

Interesting reading, anyone else have the dash problem they talk about? Keep in mind this is an "early production" GC.

Re: More GC reading

Since the test model had adaptive cruise it can't be too early of a production run. I have not noticed any problems with the leather on my dash (yet).

I went back and looked. "Months in Service" = 1. 2975 miles

I assume dash issues are fixed under warranty? It's funny how they say the inclusion of the Garmin based GPS was accidental.

I got the garmin by accident as well. Really nothing I can do about it though.

I think what they are saying is that they expected the 730N RER and got a 430N

"We've also had to make peace with the fact that our early-production Overland model was mistakenly equipped with the entry-level Garmin-based navigation system, rather than Chrysler's more sophisticated interface"

Whether they were expecting the 730N RER or RHR, it was certainly no accident.

Unless they ordered the 730N (which is what they expected) and got the 430N (which is what they got).

Not getting what you expect is only an accident if there is a mistake in the ordering process or manufacturing. That may have happened, but given what we know about the 430N being in many existing Overlands and Summits, I doubt the 430N got in the review car by accident. I'm sure they did expect the 730N because it has material differences from the 430N, but they, and the general public, probably aren't as aware as forum members that many Overlands and Summits were being fitted with the 430N system because of supply issues.

I don't know if they were told that their particular car was accidentally fitted with the Garmin system, but I don't think it's something that is being made clear to most buyers. I was fortunate enough to know about the issue when I walked in. The dealer tried to convince me the 430N was the latest system and wasn't being replaced. When I showed him the credit line for the 430N on the details for an incoming Summit, he said nothing and started putting together my new order with the 730N RHR.

I know it isn't something many people care about. Some people might actually prefer the 430N system. Nevertheless, if the cars were marketed with the capabilities of the 730N system, I think Jeep should probably be a little more clear about the fact that 430Ns are out there in significant numbers.

There have been 2 events in the young life of the WK2 that have caused issues. Call them accidents, call them lack of planning, call them lack of communication they both can and did make some people very unhappy.

The first was when the initial documentation came out and people pre-ordered Overlands based on that. The initial doc clearly stated the 730N was the STANDARD entertainment system in ALL Overlands. Then they started to show up with 430N's with a reduced MSRP and the 730H became a $305 option.

The second happened in December. Overlands ordered without the 730N radio option started showing up with the 730N but there wasn't any increase in price and on some the window sticker said 430N and there in the dash was the 730H RER.....

Imagine having ordered and paid for a 730N to then see another WK2 parked right next to it with the 730N installed at no additional charge! Or, having NOT ordered the 730N because you WANTED the 430N to wait 8 - 10 weeks only to not get the EXACT vehicle you ordered!

Sometimes it's the little things that can ruin a lot of great work. As trivial as this seems it can sour a lot of people and make them wonder if buying a Jeep was such a good idea.

Re: More GC reading

Probably the dash issue won't show up except in high summer heat, notably when parked outdoors for awhile. If so, we'll have to wait another 6 months to see how it fares.

I had this happen in Texas with two Mercedes, but both had dark dashes.
