Re: MPG sweetspot

As much as I love using the bells and whistles on my summit, it seems the biggest culprit of bad MPG is using the ACC.

Re: MPG sweetspot

Driving the JGC loaner while i'm waiting on delivery of mine, I got 21.3 per the EVIC going from NoVA to Williamsburg, VA. Ran around 75-80 the whole way down. I'm hoping the milage is as good in mine. My Cherokee got, at best, 13mpg when I drove it. I have a heavy foot and the 4.0 was not known at all for its fuel economy.

Re: MPG sweetspot

We took a trip to WI during the holiday and had huge (30mph+) headwinds the whole way up. At 70-75mph for ~270 miles with cruise on most of the way we got 17.8mpg loaded with family, food and luggage. The way home had no headwind and at 70mph cruise controlled we had 23.6mpg, same loadout. 2011 Ltd Hemi 4x4

edit: No, we did NOT have tailwinds coming home.

So in other words, get the HEMI right??

Re: MPG sweetspot

Count me for recommending yes, get the Hemi. Don't pick the WK2 if maximizing fuel economy is the goal...or any large SUV for that matter. The V6 is a good engine but between the two there is very little fuel economy difference to worry about unless you drive nearly 50,000 miles per year like I do and never load it up or trailer anything. I get about the same mileage BManz reported and have seen north of 24mpg albeit at slower, legal speeds. YMMV.

Yes...I can't see a justification in the MPG difference if that is your main concern. The fun factor of the V8 far outweighs any MPG increases of the V6 and yes, I have spent extensive time behind the wheel of each.

FWIW, I average 15-17 around town and 19-21 on the interstate at 75-80 mph (higher MPG if I slow it down a bit). That is good enough for me considering the WK2 is a 5000lb cinder block, with slightly more curves.

Re: MPG sweetspot

24.1mpg at a steady 65-70mph last weekend on a 2hr trip in winter conditions. A family member with a wk2 hemi laredo averaged 20mpg on same trip (followed behind me). I'm sure I'll be able to hit 25-26mpg at these speeds with summer gas.

If comparing the V6 low end hwy MPG to the high end of the Hemi, there is very little difference, but keeping it real compare the two when both are babied and the V6 is capable of doing a good 4mpg better then the hemi. Not huge, but it does add up if someone does a lot of driving.
