Much happier with the reliability and build of my 2014 than I was my 2011

As some of you may remember, I had a LOT of small, annoying warranty failures in my previous 2011 Laredo X. 27 or so of them in the 2.5 years I had it. Annoying things, switch modules that stopped working, control panels that stopped working, leaks, rattles, shit falling off or coming loose. It really made me question for a long time replacing it with another GC, even though I absolutely love the vehicle.

Well, I'm 10k miles and nearly 6 months into ownership of my 2014, and while I may totally jinx myself I can say that this Jeep is a huge improvement over the other one in regards to quality of build, and quality of components. Only issue has been a slightly misaligned panel in the cargo area I haven't even bothered to address.

By the time the 2011 had its first oil change I had a big list of things that needed to be fixed, buttons that were only working sporadically, I had a rear window leak. Had the oil changed in the 2014 and aside from the recalls that were done, that was it.

Very happy that I made the upgrade to the 2014.

27 failures in 2.5 years...and you STILL bought another Jeep?

You're a braver man than me. I would have wrote off Jeep products for good if I ever went though that shit with a vehicle.

Re: Much happier with the reliability and build of my 2014 than I was my 2011

Glad to hear the new one is doing well!

My 2011 and 2014 have both been great. Each had one issue at the start that was fixed (2011 seat bottom cover leather loose and poorly fitted, 2014 the front half-axle replacement). If you add in my 2005 that had ZERO issues for 6 years, then doing pretty darn good. Next time I take in my 2014 for oil change there will probably be a few TSB thingy's - no big deal will just allocate a bit more time for the visit. It is a great vehicle.

That's pretty much what everybody said to me lol.

27 warranty issues, most were minor and handled in chunks, not like I went to the dealer 27 times, but annoying nonetheless. There was always something not right with the 2011. It was a real late build 2011 too.

Glad to see you're happy now, but my guess is that you won't be happy for long. Maybe I'm just a negative Nancy, but I have no faith that Jeep can build a vehicle that will go a long time without issues. There's no way in hell I'm keeping mine beyond the factory warranty period.

Why torment yourself over it for that long?

Mine's a lease, so it won't be kept much past the factory warranty. Given my experience with the 2011, it actually got better as the kinks got worked out. Most of my issues were within the first 20k miles, after that it was pretty trouble free. It seems to me from years on here and experience being someone with a problematic unit that they are either a problem, or they aren't.

I do agree though, this isn't a vehicle I'd buy and plan to keep for 150k miles.

Same here, my 2011 HEMi GC OL was great! Did not bring it in except for oil changes and some routine checkups….I hope I will have same experience with my 2014...

Well, Negative Nancy...my 2005 GC had ZERO problems for 6 years. My 2011 had a cosmetic issue that was remedied (one leather seat cover was loose) and my 2014 had the half axle "recall" that was fixed. So far, no issues and happy. Call me Positive Pete! Anyway, I wish happiness on all GC owners and anyone having issues I hope they get quickly resolved!

Having been the one who had issues and complaining, I totally get where he's coming from though. Hard not to be a Negative Nancy.
