Re: My 2014 Overland review- not good so far!

The Chrysler Technician (Scott Miller) came from timbuktu to work on mine today. He was on it all day. When he left he was telling me he was unable to fix it, but a new update was coming out in the next few weeks that would fix the problems (all stemming from uconnect 8.4an) He told me that until the update came out i would have to stand on my head, do 20 hail marys and spin backwards, or the battery would still be dead each morning. Well low and behold, they convinced me to drive it home after almost 20 days in the service department. On my way home it was like a miracle occurred. All of a sudden everything that has been missing from the radio appeared. Apps were back, all of it. I'm now waiting to see if the battery will be dead tomorrow morning, but even the dash lights are cycling off properly, so i think it might actually be fixed. I've learned so much from this all that chrysler should hire me to be an engineer. Sorry to be so lively about this stuff, but I AM TRULY AMAZED!

Everything is still working. I can hardly believe it. Glad to have my ride back again. Hope it stays fixed. Wish they would let out the fix to everyone else that needs it.

I get a call today from Chrysler rep. She says they are still waiting on the replacement radio to be shipped. So I am guessing at least another week will go by + they have to change headlights because of condensation.

I asked if these parts are readily available since it is so new, and of course I got the standard, " I don't know the answer to that question, I am trying to expedite the order" response. The last time I checked if a part was available it could be sent over night, which means they should of had the radio on Wednesday since they told me they ordered on Tuesday.

I have never purchased a brand new car/truck and within a week it was back at the dealer for 15 days, with an open ended time frame of when it will get fixed. I am just about done with this.

I am glad to hear that you got yours back and it is all working. Did they change your radio?

No. They just ran a manual update and it all started working again. It did take someone from Detroit to fly out here so it could happen. And even he was surprised that it worked. Chrysler knows there is a problem. Though they are not admitting a problem exists

Re: My 2014 Overland review- not good so far!

There seems to be a few common issues, and it is good to know that Chrysler is aware. I'm sure they are scrambling. What I wonder is how soon before these changes/fixes make it to production.

We're going to look at Audis in five minutes.

I don't want anything but my Grand Cherokee, and neither does my wife. But we can't deal with this anymore.

I understand totally. My brother has an Audi Q5 nice car but a bit small compared to my 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland. The Overland out features the Audi but if it is problematic it is not worth constantly dealing with the Jeep.

I have been fairly lucky with my Overland so far. The right motor mount needed to be replaced as it was causing a rattle and I have had the uConnect computer system freeze on me twice an inconvenience and I am hoping the new software update will fix it.

I looked at a Lexus 450h at the same time and decided on the Jeep as my wife and take driving ski trips and the 4 wheel drive system of the hybrid Lexus left me a bit uneasy.

Re: My 2014 Overland review- not good so far!

Yes, the Q5 did seem a bit cramped for our needs, but it was pretty classy looking. Probably the closest thing to the GC we were going to find.

However, our Jeep finally seems to be running better than when we first got it (knock on wood)... Now if we can only string more than three days together without any kind of failure, that will be awesome. We're giving it one more go.

I came close to getting a Q5, but decided not to after talking to a friend who just traded hers. She did not like hers, and was happy the lease was up.

I hope Alamo you with issues have them resolved soon. I agree that although the problems you describe are serious, I think the ratio of owners having positive experiences to those having negative experiences is still pretty high. I have had no issues in the first month. As far as my expectations of the Jeep, I gave up my Cadillac CTS all wheel drive for the GC Overland and I think the fit and finish is comparable, and the leather in the GC is actually nicer than in the CTS. So far so good.
