I didn't test drive any vehicle when I ordered my jeep. I knew what I wanted and was prepared for what might be. I, along with others that ordered when the banks opened on Jan 15,2013 still love our Jeeps. It's the price we paid to be early testers so to say.

Re: My Beta Testing is Over!

I waited until the diesel engine became available otherwise I would have bought another Subaru Outback or Forester. This allowed me to have a vehicle with most of the teething issues resolved. I very much like my JGC but given the OPs problems I would be happy to give the vehicle back.

Many manufacturers have this problem (still) to include BMW, Mercedes, etc. with first year introductions...

Re: My Beta Testing is Over!

Wow. Sorry to hear of your issues and that you had to get a lawyer to resolve them. No fun for sure. At least you didn't have to get an exorcist and are able to return it!

Just curious, what was your build date?

Re: My Beta Testing is Over!

Wow! Hope everything will go smoothly and win the case. Funny about Explorer-- my parents own 2013 limited with everything. Then found out that i got wk2 and my mom loves it more than explorer.

But, hey, i love the look of explorer just sexy sleek same as wk2.

Re: My Beta Testing is Over!

I like the looks of the Jeep better but I don't like the problems I have had, and I am not sure I want to risk doing it again with a newer build. The added bonus would be the twin turbo v6 in the Ford goes very fast.

Re: My Beta Testing is Over!

There was a person a few months ago that thought the same thing when he Lemoned his Jeep. He got another one and it has been problem free.

Re: My Beta Testing is Over!

I looked at the Explorer Sport. The bottom line for me is that its a front wheel drive vehicle and I felt like the drivetrain although powerful may not hold up to towing and continuous abuse. The other SUVs that met my criteria where too expensive. I ended up with the GC Ecodiesel and am very pleased after 15k miles.

I don't blame you for your choices with the issues you had. It seems like the first midyear 2013 builds had more problems than the Sept 2013 and newer builds.

I hope you get a reliable vehicle no matter what you get.

I drove the Explorer Sport last night and came away unimpressed. I to didn't like the front drive feel of the car the whole felt cheap to me I don't think I want to pay 50k for that thing. I wife really liked the 7 passenger seat and the extra room in the back and I can say I did to, so tonight I am going to go look at a Durango R/T, with the lower step in and the tighter suspension I my get a good balance between the ford and the jeep.
