Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

That's a bummer. Back in the 1980s I put a new stereo in my first car and someone who worked next door came over and started asking me questions about it. After that, I propped up a small paperback book in front of the stereo when it was parked to help hide it. At least it's easier to hide stuff in the back with tinted windows although we never leave anything in plain site other than a can coozie or window scraper/snow brush in the winter.

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

Pick up my car from Safelite today. Low and behold they did not use factory OEM glass. They used an aftermarket brand. They never once mentioned this to me nor gave me any options to glass choices.

I call up Geico. They state that they will only replace with factory glass on current model year or newer (MY16 or MY17). Makes perfect sense considering the 2017 hasnt even started production yet. Ive been dealing with geico all day trying to get them to replace with OEM glass.

Geico finally informs me that they authorized OEM glass to Safelite. Safelite is now claiming that they couldnt install OEM glass because no OEM glass comes tinted like mine was. So now im here trying to explain to both Geico and Safelite that Jeeps come standard with smoked privacy glass for everything from the passenger doors back. They should have 0 issue obtaining OEM smoked glass. Geico is trying to claim that my dealership did it as an extra bonus.

This is going to take a while.

I'm surprised you didn't have a benzi box.... Just take the whole thing out when you park, lol 😜

I had one in my '89 firebird for a few months before I changed it out for a more modern detachable face radio.

BTW, don't recall mention of any damage to property from stray bullets fired at that young thief.
That's the part that always bothered me. If you were justifiably defending yourself, others or property and were not criminally charged or found guilty for doing so then no civil action should be allowed.

I agree. Wonder if such protection is offered under laws in Texas? Don't recall reading of such lawsuits in Texas. Here in California, seems the law favors offenders over actual victims.

Why'd I choose to live in California? I like our easy access to the seaside, forests, mountains and deserts, which are best enjoyed in a Jeep 4x4.

Criminal vs civil are mutually exclusive of each other. Also, the burden of proof is much less in a civil suit. I suspect TX is no different than any other state in that regard.

LOL... can't fault your reason for living in CA.

Big Bend NP remains my favorite National Park. Everywhere has its pros and cons. Worked in Dallas for 10 years. Can't beat DFW for convenient flights to either coast of the US. Downside to working in Dallas were those evil BBQ ribs. Put on 50 lbs during those 10 years, which I blame on the best BBQ in the USA. Glad BBQ out here in California is no where near as tasty.

Jeez. Makes me love State Farm even more. I've gone through a couple windshields, never had a problem getting them to authorize OEM glass. When I call Safelite to schedule the replacement, I tell them up front that I want OEM and nothing else. They've never had a problem with it.

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

on the road to a solution!

Spoke with Geico today who in turn spoke with Safelite. They agreed to order the new factory glass and install it. Should take 3-5 days for them to receive it but its progress. Plus theyre reimbursing me for the additional tint I had on it. Not over the finish line just yet but atleast were moving in the right direction
