Plus theyre reimbursing me for the additional tint I had on it. Not over the finish line just yet but atleast were moving in the right direction
Glad to read this.

I've found that many aftermarket replacements suck compared to OEM stuff. The aftermarket glass is sometime thinner, which causes increased cabin wind & road noise. They also create a weaker seal against rain & moisture.

It's a shame that it has to be the case, but "persistence" when dealing with insurance companies is pretty much the only way to get what you want and should get sometimes...they bank (and make bank) on folks who don't complain or don't know better.

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

According to geico, this isn't their fault.

They approved standard Mopar glass for my vehicle. In fact safelite confirmed that they received mopar glass however it was scratched on arrival. They had to order a replacement and it would have taken too long to arrive so they ordered aftermarket instead. Safelite informed me of the scratched glass however they never mentioned the replacement was going to be aftermarket. This falls squarely on the shoulders of safelite (atleast according to geicos story)

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

Sorry to read some piece of sh** broke into your car, there really are some scumbags on this planet!!Makes me puke that most people work REALLY hard for what they have then some low life thinks it's ok to help themselves to something they KNOW isn't theirs.Reason I get so pissed off at this is it happened to me a few years ago in my Wrangler, unfortunately for him and me,I was coming out of a store and saw legs hanging out of my passenger side door.I walked over and as this scumbag wiggled out I punched him as hard as I could and gave him a big black eye.Police called he gets arrested for theft,I get charged with assault and this piece of crap via a lawyer(couldn't afford what he stole but could afford a lawyer!!),this went on for over a year, finally sanity was restored ( and the fact he had 20 years worth of the same offenses and had tried to sue others when he was assaulted before),when the Judge dismissed it out of hand, stating for every action there is a reaction and were it not for his actions,my reaction would never have occurred.Point being, the misery visited on my family for over a year through my actions have made me think twice before I would touch someone else.As frustrating as it is,I was lucky to walk away from this, eventually.Upshot is,if you see someone stealing from you,you just gotta hope the Police respond quickly otherwise you have to let them go or face what I did.I admit it felt good seeing the thief rolling around on the ground crying, but gotta tell you,had I have known the misery I visited on my family before choosing the WRONG course of action,I would have just let him go.The $900 damage he caused through theft damage wasn't worth the year of worry.
Reason I posted such a long reply is I don't want to see other good people allow anger to cloud their judgement like it did mine.
It SUCKS to be stolen from, but sucks WORSE to get into trouble with Law Enforcement trying to keep 'things'.

What kind of dumbass makes a decision like that without consulting their client (insurance company), or you, the owner? What did it save them- a phone call to you and having to admit they screwed up? It shows how little respect they have for you, thinking you wouldn't notice a huge difference in tint. Look how much of your time, their clients time, and their time and money were wasted.

Glad you were able to track it down and set them straight.

As for the unfortunate kid with 30 holes in him, I agree, that owner went overboard. I would have stopped at 29.

Sorry off topic, question for you gun nuts (we in NYC can't even carry pepper spray without registering it) putting 30 rounds requires a reload I am assuming each clip has 14,15 bullets?? I wonder what the real story is behind that robbery.

The incident happened in 2002 in Dallas, TX. Going from memory, news reports just said the car owner fired 30 rounds or the kid was hit by 30 rounds. In Texas, 30-round+ clips were (are?) legal. My guess is the car owner caught the thief in the act, became enraged at the sight of his wheels being stolen, then opened fire with everything he had. I assumed two 15-round clips, but it might've been a 30-round clip. Over 14 years, details of the incident faded from my memory.

Going way Off-Topic. In 1990s, San Diego, California, I wondered how accurate I could fire off three fully loaded 9mm 15-round clips (all I owned) in quick succession from my semi-automatic pistol. I effectively vented the door of an old rusted out wreck at about 10-15 feet within not many seconds (mental clock). So no big deal that the car owner may have popped off 30 rounds from his semi in seconds.

Had I been in his situation, I would've held the thief at gunpoint, unless he attempted to attack me or pointed a gun at me. I would fire whatever it took to stop that imminent threat. Old memory from an ancient training video: a bad guy kept firing on police even after being hit by 27 bullets. Even a fatally wounded subject is capable of killing people until falling unconscious.

Back to 1990s San Diego, on the US side, a mile or 2 east of the Otay Port of Entry, was some unattended private land that was an unofficial free-fire zone. Pretty much anyone could go there to shoot without restrictions. Off-duty law enforcement along with private citizens could be found shooting out there on a regular basis. On occasion, I watched live fire training by groups of on-duty law enforcement personnel using high powered weapons. Groups of Mexican nationals would cross over to collect casings from expended rounds after such training sessions. Even saw armed Mexican nationals wander across the open border to go shooting. So much for Mexican laws prohibiting private citizens from owning guns.

Back then, there was no fence at all. I took my first 4x4 on its inaugural off-road drive on those badlands. Stopped on top of a hill. A Border Patrol vehicle pulled up along side and we began chatting. To my total surprise I was just feet from Mexico. I intended to explore south of that hill thinking it was Southern San Diego. Fortunately, my chance encounter with the Border Patrol prevented me from getting into boo coo trouble by unlawfully driving into Mexico, then unlawfully crossing back into the USA with my brand new 1990 Isuzu Trooper 4x4. No chance of that happening with the heavy-duty reinforced steel border fence, there, now.

Was told a pre-border fence story of a couple uniformed and armed Border Patrol agents inadvertently taking a lunch break at a Mexican taco stand, in Mexico, much to the surprise of other customers. So inadvertent border crossings weren't only for unaware civilians. Those agents thought they were still in the USA. Fortunately, Mexican officials did not discover and arrest those USBP agents.

Anyway, that sort of brings us back to at least the topic of off-road 4x4 exploring.

Back to serious for a moment. I don't see how 30, or even 29, shots are justifiable. I imagine most attackers are done with one or two. Lucky for me, I've never had to fire a gun in an adverse situation.

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

Not to justify shooting the kid 29 or 30 times. Personally I dont think you should take someones life for a property crime.

In the heat of the moment, unless you are a very very highly trained individual, there is no counting your shots. The adrenaline dump you would receive in that situation would have you squeezing the trigger as fast as possible. You see it a lot in office involved shootings. The officers will report they fired 3-4 shots when really they emptied their entire magazine.

If the guy had a 30 round magazine, maybe he just squeezed it off as fast as possible. Totally different story if he had time to reload on an unarmed thief.

That law should be nationwide in all 50 states. Unfortunately we have a sitting President who would rather let criminals out of prison instead. And a governor, (Virginia), who wants to restore their voting and firearms rights after he does. Insane.

As do I. All one has to do is look at all of these liberal run cesspools, (Chicago, New York, Detroit, Los Angeles), and you can see just how well all of their "gun control" is working. They like regulating everything.... Except crime.
