I wish I could disagree with "the billt" here, but i can't. Liberal cesspool starts at the bottom with the NYC mayor and ends with the governor with bunch of corrupt organizations in between.

Both DeBlasio and Cuomo should be run out of New York on a rail. I can't believe the people tolerate either of those 2 idiots. Even their own police force can't stand them.

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

Thanks for sharing, protect1989. Today Safelite replaced my windshield as part of an insurance claim. I had probably a 9-10" crack, which warrants replacement. I requested OEM from my insurance company, Safeco, and they didn't put up a fight. While I did have to ask for it, they were very willing to request it. I made sure that Safelite would contact me if they didn't have my windshield in stock and would need to reschedule, to which they said they would. I got a call from the tech this morning to give me a more exact timeframe for him to do the work, and I verified with him that he had an OEM windshield for me. He said he did.

So he replaces the windshield and I look at the bottom center and I see the attached. No sign of it being a Mopar logo anywhere. So I question it, and he explains to me that Jeep used to put the Jeep logo on the bottom but they had problems with it and don't do that anymore. No clue, but whatever. He also said that it was an OEM windshield but for some reason Mopar doesn't put their logo on the windows anymore. LIE! I went to a dealership and looked at no fewer than 10 new JGC's that ALL said Mopar on the windshields!

Your story helps confirm Safelite's shadiness for me. I can't wait to give someone an earful tomorrow.

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

Why not just take it to the dealer and have them replace it? Then you will be all but guaranteed to receive a Mopar windshield.

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

I honestly thought if it got approved by the insurance company, it wouldn't even be an issue. But also the dealer is 20 minutes in the opposite direction to work for me and I'm there enough as it is dealing with bluetooth issues.

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

I understand. It sucks to be lied to. One of the first things I noticed when we got our new Jeep, was the "complexity" of it's windshield. I've had my F-150 for 25 years. And in that time I've had at least 8 windshields installed in it. It's a very high profile windscreen, and it doesn't take much to get a starburst on the freeway at 60+ MPH. On a lower angle vehicle that would bounce off with no harm done.

I've gotten into the habit just as soon as it happens, to give the inside of the windshield a good, firm rap with my fist. This will all but guarantee a 6" or 8" crack that will qualify for replacement. I'm not big on "windshield repair". And here in Arizona cars go through a lot of windshields. If my Jeep ever requires one, (and it's only a matter of time and miles before it does), I'll head straight for the dealer. I've had Safelight replace the last 3 or 4 of mine. They did a good job. But for my Jeep, I for sure want an OEM replacement. The dealer is the only place you can be assured of getting it.

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

I just came across this article that I wish I had read earlier. I've never heard of this site, but assuming this is true it all makes perfect sense. I still can't imagine why they would lie to me about it though. Why not just try to sell it at that point?

AP Technoglass Windshields to Be Manufactured by Safelite | glassBYTEs.com

PS: protect1989, sorry for hijacking your thread. I just wanted to share some similar Safelite frustrations. I'm glad you were able to get yours sorted out. Hopefully I'll be able to as well.

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

With my insurance they required I use safelite. They advised me that if I went to the dealership that I would have to pay the difference between safelite and the dealership costs. They estimated it would be a few hundred out of pocket.

Personally I don't think safelite did the best job. The door still rattles cause glass is still inside. They told me that those will gradually fall out over time but I just think they did shoddy work. they also did a terrible job vacuuming. I was finding large glass pieces on the floor right by where the break in happened. Not like I was digging around in an obscure place.

All in all, insurance companies are only looking out for their bottom dollar and safelite can be hit or miss. 0/10 would not recommend getting your vehicle broken in to

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

protect1989, I am sure we don't need to tell you they are just blowing smoke up your arse! They simply installed the cheapest glass with the minimal amount of time to do it! Tell the head insurance broker you are taking your business elsewhere & informing everyone you know about their shady business ethics!

Re: My jeeps been burglarized!

I wish I could leave, but Geico is the cheapest insurance by a mile. I'm just happy the window was fixed and they used Mopar glass. I'll wait and see what happens if I ever have a real claim
