Re: My JGC vs a Deer

Glad you're okay. Lots of deer up in central Michigan too.

Re: My JGC vs a Deer

Can someone run into the deer that are terrorizing my garden for me? I'll cook you a venison steak with red wine demi glace that you will not forget!

Get together with your neighbors and lean on local officials to initiate a regular culling program. Before communities around us started culls with hunting organizations and professional sharpshooters, we counted some 200 on and adjacent to our property (10 acres). Now, it's down to a fraction of that.

Still plenty of road kill, especially during the rut, but nowhere like before.

And, for sure, properly marinated and prepared deer tenderloin, medium rare, is one of nature's great gifts.

Portland is much too liberal for that! It's a pity......

There's a solution, but hippie meat tastes funny.

Re: My JGC vs a Deer

I hate deers in NJ, they are out of population control and causing damages and also spreading lime desiase. It happened to me that I almost got killed on highway because of sudden deer jump a front of me while I been on high speed. They need wolfs!

Re: My JGC vs a Deer

I wish I had hit the deer. Rolled the car 3 times. Not only did I lose my car, but it was a "loss of control" accident and got an insurance ding. Hitting the deer would have been "no fault." The good thing is I lived and the deer lived to see another headlight shine in its eyes.

I hope you are OK. Also, it looks like you qualify for a brand new WK2.

Re: My JGC vs a Deer

That's one tough Jeep! A shame to lose, but at least you pulled through okay.

It's also a good argument for stability control. I don't care for nanny stuff, but when a buck suddenly jumps out in front, then the swerve reflex takes over.

Incidentally, looking at the huge oval opening on the front of the SRT, you have to wonder whether it would completely swallow up a fawn.

Re: My JGC vs a Deer

@nathantw, what year is that? Any idea if it had ESC, and what caused the rollover (was it the initial swerve, or the fact that the Jeep went off the road?)

Anyway, glad to hear you're okay!

It looks like a 99-03 WJ, they did not have ESC to the best of my knowledge.
