Re: My JGC vs a Deer

By the bye, we came home this evening during the worst hours of the worst week for deer rut, along the worst backwoods roads of arguably the most populous county for deer in the nation. Lost count of how many we saw romping near the road, not to mention fresh road kill. I don't know which is the greater hazard, deer or anglepores that tailgate when you're driving slow to avoid smacking a Bambi.

Re: My JGC vs a Deer

It appears that you are insured by a bunch of idiots. You should seriously consider putting them on notice of moving your insurance over to another company, one with staff that make sense. It is clear for anyone who had to go through what you went through, your collision was imminent and you had to protect yourself and your passengers against that, which you instinctively tried to do and lost the car in doing so. However, you kept overall control on the situation and this should be considered as someone being in control of a sitution albeit not the car. The insurance probably will not have to disburse the high price of mutilation and casualties on board the jeep! That should be rewarded.

Dump the idiots or at least sue them!

Oh and don't forget to spoil yourself a little on the next vehicle, you certainly deserve it.

[QUOTE=nathantw;516964]I wish I had hit the deer. Rolled the car 3 times. Not only did I lose my car, but it was a "loss of control" accident and got an insurance ding. Hitting the deer would have been "no fault." The good thing is I lived and the deer lived to see another headlight shine in its eyes.

This time of year "the rut" is in meaning the does are in heat and the bucks are chasing them all over the place. You should see more deer now than the rest of the year.

We have a hunting farm in SC (sitting in a deer stand right now). While driving home a few weeks ago, at night, I looked up (after playing with my radio) and three deer were in the road. At 70mph, the collision sensor went off, giving me enough time to slam on brakes (the anti-lock brakes work great) turning to the left, grazing the tail of one, the nose of another. Despite a small scratch on both the right side and left side of my jeep (both came out) I was able yo avoid them. Figured the adaptive cruise package just paid for itself.

Really interesting. I was wondering whether the adaptive cruise would work with deer. Great news!
