Re: My Last post on Jeep Garage

Hope your Volvo is better quality than our 2007 XC-70 was... P.O.S. Enough said.

Sorry to hear about this. It really sucks for me to read threads like this. I hate them all.

Dan JGC... the number of differences between the 2011 and 2014 are mind boggling. It was like the 2011 launch all over again. OK maybe not *THAT* bad... but close. Real close.

These early builds I call 2013.5s. The *real* 2014s came around July-ish.

Re: My Last post on Jeep Garage

Seems like just about everything they changed for the 2014's is what's giving the problems. They just don't put enough R&D into anything anymore. But the same can be said for just about all manufacturers.

Re: My Last post on Jeep Garage

A big part of the problem for all manufacturers is outsourcing. One company writes the software to control the brakes, the tranny, the fuel system, etc. Then a half dozen other companies all over the world build the modules that accept and interpret the software. Of course another half dozen companies build the actual brakes, trannies, fuel system, etc. Then when something goes wrong somebody at the auto company has to first figure what is causing the problem, and keep that company from pointing a finger at someone else.

Outsourcing, according to the CEO, caused a lot of problems with the Boeing DreamLiner.

More recently the blame for the Obumble Care computer failure was determined to be a bunch of different companies writing a piece of the software. Each piece worked as advertised, they just couldn't play well together.

Chrysler, and others, need more of their own people in these factories they outsource to. Then they need constant communication. There needs to be much more compatibility testing long before these parts show up at an assembly plant.

New tranny, new center console electronics.....wasn't the tranny a proven one in other vehicles and the center console electronics used for year(s) before in other Chrysler products. New lights in higher trim levels. Other than some other cosmetic changes I just don't see it......my 2011 Summit came with all the bells and whistles so those should have just been refined. No offense --- and you know I LOVE JEEPS (this will be my 6th GC and I also owned a Wrangler) --- but come on, this was a mid-model refresh and nothing super major at all. There are not any new bells or whistles to complicate matters (except maybe the ecodiesel). Enlighten me please...and I say this with all seriousness as I want to learn more (no sarcasm).

Re: My Last post on Jeep Garage

Today was bitter sweet. Last day on the job with the Jeep. I was going to turn it in tomorrow morning but I'm going to wait until Monday.
I wanted to take it back down to the country this weekend with the dogs. They loved it to. I got a really good trade in and they discounted the New Volvo. So I'm happy.
I can sum up the last year in a couple of words that some of you will understand.
My Jeep has been like an employee or even a girl friend that you really like. But finally you realize you need to make a change because it's not going to get any better. When it's good you can't ask for any better! But when it's bad it's really bad. You just need to move on.

Re: My Last post on Jeep Garage

Hate to hear people having problems to the point of getting rid of the GC. Fact is though that I'm headed to the dealer as soon as everyone here at my house wakes up for some of those same issues. Here's a new one though. I've been driving my JK all week but Thursday night jumped in the GC to go to dinner. Had previously put it in rock mode and 4LO. Not sure what happened but it took me about 15 minutes to finally get it to go back to normal 2WD. Then yesterday the radio kept locking up about every 5 minutes and odd have to reset it. Even shut it the back up camera at one point. As much add I love my GC, I'm seriously having to consider the longevity of ownership right now. Do I want to start fighting or is it time to throw in the towel and move on? Just don't know...

Get another JK or trade it in on a later build. To me, it seems like those with major issues continue to have issues. The chance that a new one will have issues to the extent you have had them is very small.

Actually, if you really want to get rid of it, either email Jeep or tell your dealer (or both) that you want a buyback. The worst they can say is they are not buying it back, and then you can either keep your Jeep or move on.
