Re: My poor Jeep

At some point it will show up, and once I work the deal on the new one, it'll come out. They have a pretty good eye, he could tell our BMW had some paint done, and I parked it so it wasn't in the sun and was shaded...he said he could tell, but most people would never see it, so he gave me what I wanted for the car, 2 weeks later, sold. It's finally scheduled to go in Monday and start repairs Tuesday. Hope it comes out ok.

No, that is not always true.

If you deal with a body shop that does not sell its information to CarFax it won't. That coupled with lack of police report also helps.

I had a vehicle that had $22,500 worth of body damage and no police report and the car fax report was clean after it got fixed...checked months and a year later and still clean report on that car.

Most insurance companies require a police report for filing the claim.

I thought that too.

Here in Los Angeles police will not roll out for any traffic accident unless there is public property damage or serious injuries, they themselves are on/near the scene of the accident or the vehicles are incapacitated and blocking traffic.

Re: My poor Jeep

I'm guessing there was a police report, I wasn't paying attention when my wife told me what happened, I was just thinking of a big F'n dent in the Jeep, my wife's company has their own police, and the city police were called because somehow when we got this jeep, it wasn't registered with her work, so they didn't know if it was an employee...despite her tag hanging on the mirror. Doesn't really matter in the end, although it makes me sick to look at, it's a car, it wasn't an accident with a crash, no injuries(except our poor jeep), it's getting fixed starting today, and my dealer wants to sell me the first diesel in the area. I may have 2 people that want my jeep anyway...may just take over the lease for me.
Now i'm scared though, cuz she's driving my charger to work cuz Enterprise gave her a truck to drive(it was that or a minivan) and she doesn't want to drive it to work. She has had 2 incidents(one her fault, one not) in her work parking deck in a 14 month period, her BMW and Jeep. May the car gods be with my charger.

Re: My poor Jeep

So, they are putting on a new door skin, and fixing the fender is what they told my wife...funny, they said the door had to sharp of a crease to fix...must be cutting the fender because it had a severe pinch where the paint was gone. $2500 is what the shop and Progressive settled on, with an open check for the clear bra on the fender. It should be good work, the guy does a lot of private hot rods, and my wife's stepdad(he used to sell auto shop supplies to dealers, etc) said he's real picky, even for me being OCD I should be happy...doubtfull. Oh well, '14 diesel here we come.
