My uConnect 8.4AN with 13.28.2 Firmware rebooted on me

I just switched to USB Source.

Chose all Songs and it was playing the first one.

Hit Shuffle and then hit Next and poof it rebooted. Guess it didn't like that song.

Did it all again and it was ok.

Re: My uConnect 8.4AN with 13.28.2 Firmware rebooted on me

I just bought a 2014 last week with the 8.4 and 13.28.2 Firmware. I switched to USB (iPhone) and it went kaput. Nothing worked. The screen would light up when I pushed the buttons but the radio wouldn't actually do anything. If i turned up the volume it would display the change on the screen but once it disappeared it didn't remember what volume it was on. It didn't matter anyway... nothing would play... not AM, not FM, not XM, no BT, no phone, no USB... nothing. Radio went silent... at the start of a 6 hour drive. The new JGC is a very very quiet vehicle. I tried pulling over and restarting the thing, but it didn't make a difference.

Next day it started working again, but this time the stereo had a good 10 seconds of lag from the time you hit a button or adjusted the volume to the time the radio actually did it. That eventually cleared up too, I haven't been able to recreate the problem... i'm hoping it was just the one time.

i think the issue isnt software related but hardware. Its too demanding on the crappy processor and ram

Is your radio and "activated" unit (UConnect Access)

Come again?

My USB device, is just a USB stick.

And my Uconnect is activated (as in I can use the Android App to start Engine).

I agree the processor might be a little sluggish, could be the code though

When you plug in a new USB device or one with "New Music" that will trigger a scan. While it scans in the background it can be very sluggish.

My USB stick has been in there for a week or so with no change.

After that it's normally acceptably fast. But just barely.

Like when you run Nav by Voice and looks up a City/Street its ridiculously slow. It reminds me of a Nav app (Mapopolis) that I used to use on my first Windows Mobile phone, about 10 years ago.

Sounds like an update I do NOT want.

As of the last update, a UConnect Access Activated system may reboot after it does an OTA (Over The Air) update. This may happen up to 24 hours afterwards. If it only did this once and the problem was gone after 24 hours, this is the possible cause.

13.28.2 USB Port

I have not had a chance to put any music on a SD card yet, however I plugged my wifes older Ipod into the USB port for a test. It worked flawlessly, my wife said it picked up where she had left off, no issues at all.

Oh, I see.

How do you know if an OTA update came in?

Would I see a version of something updated?

Since it was on Shuffle (of the whole USB stick, which is quite large), I may not know for a long time if it's possibly a corrupt MP3 file it hit (even though, that shouldn't make it crash either).

Took a long time to reboot too. Screen went black for like 30 seconds (felt like it any way) and finally came up. I thought I was gonna have to shut the car off to get it back.

Really, it has just been that common. You can't tell anything changed but the radio reboots on an install. If you search Threads like the 13.19.0 unofficial you will see people complain about it.

I mean really yes, it is possible there may have been a corrupt file but I have yet to see a reboot caused by this.
