MY14 Reversing Aux Light

Hi all. I've not been able to find an answer I searches....

I bought a little 10w Cree LED light I'd like to connect to my reverse lights so i can see behind a bit better at night.

I was thinking of connecting it to the trailer 7 pin plug reverse line but it doesn't seem to get any voltage when in reverse.
Can someone please tell me what I'm missing here?

Maybe suggest an alternative?

Thanks

Brett

Re: MY14 Reversing Aux Light

No reversing wire ups here in Oz, My son is an Auto Sparky & said the only one he did was for a truck Kenworth.

Re: MY14 Reversing Aux Light

Brett your trailer wiring wont have reverse, however you could tap into the car reverse light wiring and use one of the spares

Re: MY14 Reversing Aux Light

You could always upgrade your existing bulbs to led you may end up with a whiter light others here have been doing it.

I'm pretty sure my trailer connection (7pins) includes a reverse, It prevents my boat trailer brake to come on while reversing.

Here's a diagram:

Be careful, I think engine must be running to get power to this terminal in reverse (kindda hard to test if you're alone)

Sorry, didn't know the export model for Australia were different on this wiring... My Canadian WK2 has it.

BTW in Canada and USA trailer brakes are mandatory only when trailer reaches a certain weight and reverse lights on trailer are really rare and not mandatory.
