Other Manufactures use Navteq as well. Do you think Jeep is the only manufacturer that is having this issue, probably not.

Sure the OP was venting to the wrong person, but they are "Chrysler Customer Care"...are they not? Their job is to listen to people like me for instance complain about transmission issues and such...areas I'm sure they aren't experts in either.
I'm not saying that we should have to wait years for a map update, not at all (which it seems to some like I am implying). Other than Jeep (and other manufacturers) putting pressure on NavTeq to get the maps updated, everyone is waiting on NavTeq to do it. If Jeep said "you know, you don't listen to us and are going to go with someone else." I'd be curious if anything would really change as NavTeq (Owned by Nokia) as they have a huge marketshare already. NavTeq's only competition is Google and Tom Tom currently. Maybe Jeep and others should move UConnect to Google (If Garmin moved then I think they might move more on things). I don't have any issue what so ever about contacting customer care about issues that they control, I just don't see the map update as something they control.

Now obviously everyone has an opinion on things and it seems that Silvermax does not approve of mine (btw, you didn't even response to this thread other than go after what I said) and wants to make it clear. My statement of " That conversation was pointless" was that of to me voicing my opinion of complaining to a customer service person that has no knowledge or any control to the NavTeq system or process. I was not directing my thoughts on the OP and what is make/break situation for him. If I did, I apologize. Could she of moved it up to next level, perhaps but my opinion is people are barking up the wrong tree. Go after NavTeq about their lack of getting new map updates out to customers and their vehicles. If they cared about making $$ from us, they would of had an update out or if they wanted to truly help us they would of updated it. So what the hold up is, that is the Million dollar question.

Re: NAVTEQ and Jeep = Frustration

There is an update coming and there is talk of the update being pushed through the same portal you guys get your software updates for the radios from.

I don't have timelines but they have discussed doing a RRT type update for this. If I can get more info, I will let you know.

Thanx Willx. Sorry if I am pessimistic on this, as there was an update scheduled for last August, and then the delays began and here we are approaching March of 2015. Perhaps if they gave a reason instead of that cryptic message; it might help. Would you know how the update decisions are made? Who starts the ball rolling by saying its time for an update for XYZ platform, and where does that go? It's all just a sore spot for me as the rest of the GC is fantastic, and to have this, to me, relatively simple issue, just leaves a bad taste. Just glad I have my NUVI

"Go after what you said"? You're taking this WAY too personal SnoFire. It was a harmless question with no malice attached.

In my opinion, this delay at NAVTEQ is a Chrysler/Jeep responsibility all the way. Jeep's "product" here is being affected by the delay at NAVTEQ, along with Jeep's image...a vendor Chrysler has chosen to do business with.

The situation in my book is no different than let's say issues they may have with one of the many crappy Chinese vendors they do business with. It's their bed, so they have to lay in it.

Re: NAVTEQ and Jeep = Frustration

Man, y'all have me worried. I ordered the current update for my 2013(build date 09/04/12) 2 days ago. Sure hope I get some new locations, POIs, etc. Have I screwed up?

Thank you. I really like my Summit and the only serious complaint I have is the out-of-date navigation system. Well, and the way the update to the system has been handled.

Re: NAVTEQ and Jeep = Frustration

Greetings,

Over the last 2 + years I have notice that HERE (Navteq) takes their time in the updates for off-line (fixed systems) map databases. I have notice they give priority to the IGO Primo user base. Garmin's smartphone app takes months for an update. Usually the smartphone apps are updated first. Most of my observations come from apps and looking on naviextras.com which is the portal for IGO Primo updates for the headunits.

What is very interesting for the Telatlas maps which is now owned by TomTom, the updates are more frequent as in a couple of months. It hard to say why, but my speculation since the opening fiasco with Apple Maps which uses TomTom, their has been great strides by TomTom to get updates to all their user bases.

In any event, it looks like somebody is listening and trying to get the Jeep User base some priority for the update with HERE.

Best for now.

I really have no idea of the reasoning but it has happened before. FCA is one of the few companies that I see send out the DVD's as a customer improvement program and I see it fairly often. There is an April 2014 Published Version which may end up being the one but there is logistical issues.

They published the Update for the RJ Series as sort of a test run and the Aussies got an update but the file sizes are much larger for North America.

Anyway, nothing concrete and to maybe answer one of your questions CLEARLY, FCA needs to figure out something for the delivery of the update.

FYI, when I travel cross county I have a NUVI, WAZE and my JEEP NAV... I like multiple opinions.

Re: NAVTEQ and Jeep = Frustration

I agree with the frustration expressed here. Individual customers don't seem to have any sway with Navteq, yet Chrysler is probably a significant customer. I find it very frustrating that Navteq continues to churn out various updates for many other customers and platforms, yet somehow can't get an update out for our 2014 JGC.

I appreciate the update from Willx, that some type of solution may be forthcoming. I like having built in Nav, so having updated maps is important to my drivign experience. Especially because I always seem to end up in areas with new highways not shown on our older map files.

Re: NAVTEQ and Jeep = Frustration

They don't give a shit. Easier to blame each other. Navtek sends you to Jeep and the other way around. Whatcha gonna do? Dump the car because of the nav? No..
Stick a nav on the windshield while the built with its nice big screen is useless? Pathetic
As much as I like the car I would definitely not recommend it to anybody anymore.
As I was saying in another post you can't even throw that crap HU off the window (on the 2014 models), pay 2k and get another with a decent nav that offers decent map updates. Noooo... You can't because everything is integrated in that HU!
Thanks Chrysler

The Garmin is up to 2015.2. bit the Jeep map site has no update for a 2015 JGC. The map is still a 2014 map, and both use Mapteq. I'm not sure it would make a difference anyway with the Jeep map missing a lot of places that have been around for a while. We plan to drive across the US this year and I'll be sure to take my Garmin.
I've been looking for a Euro/NA navigation unit for when I travel abroad, however they are very hard to find. Which model did you get?
