Re: Need advice from experience Jeep Owners

If mpg doesn't bother you, and if within your budget, I don't see how anyone would not be very very happy with an Overland 4x4 with 5.7L V8 Hemi.

I'd might go with the Hemi, but to pull 6,000 lbs., I would probably choose a pickup that is rated closer to 10,000 lbs. I have never likee pulling a trailer close to the max rating for the vehicle. Pulling a trailer can be hard on the engine and transmission, especially when you get close to that max weight. As far a the diesel, I won't buy any diesel that has the DEF.

Re: Need advice from experience Jeep Owners

Pulling 6000 lbs is more than a half ton below the rated capacity for the Hemi with Factory Towing. No worries on the engine and transmission, IMHO...nearly the same setup goes in the RAM 1500. What's more of concern would be "length" of the load because the JGS's wheel base, at 114" is shorter than a pick-em-up truck, and even with the required WDH, there is more of a chance of stability issues with a very long load "sailing" behind. I wouldn't want to pull a long RV trailer, for example, with the JGC, but I'm comfortable with the shorter setup I do tow.

What size trailer are you pulling? We would not go with any trailer more than 22ft. And it would be one of those ultra light trailers.
