Thank you, gentlemen.

Great advice, Visitador. Will look into it now. Perhaps I will stick to the 20" wheels and add the skid plates at a later date.

Re: Need Advice - ORA Package or Not for Overland V6?

Reading through the Ordering and Pricing thread, it looks like the skid plates are the only thing that ORAII brings to a V6 Overland:

OFF-ROAD ADVENTURE II (AWY) [MSRP $295 / INV. $ 263] with EXF or EZH: [MSRP $995 / INV. $ 886]
18X8.0 Polished Aluminum Wheels (WBL)
Elec LTD Slip Differential Rr Axle (DSF) (with 3.0L or 5.7L)
Front Suspension Skid Plate (XEU)
Fuel Tank Skid Plate Shield (XEE)
P265/60R18 BSW AS On/Off Rd Tires (TP5)
Quadra-Drive II 4WD System (AWB) (with 3.0L or 5.7L)
Selec-Speed Control (BNK) (with 5.7L)
Skid Plate Group (ADL)
Trail Rated Badge (MT2)
Transfer Case Skid Plate Shield (XEF)
Underbody Skid Plate (XF3)

I've struck out the things that don't come on a V6. All that's left are the skid plates and 18" wheels/tires.

Well, for $300 is not that bad. Also, if you prefer the 18" wheels over the 20," it is a no brainer. From what I read, some members are not that keen on the GoodYears that come with the 20." Haven't heard complains about the Michelins that come with the 18"

Man, you clearly haven't been listening! Everyone hates on the "off road" tires that come with the ORA package!

If it were me, I'd keep the 20" tires and add the skid plates.

Don't need to be snippy. I read threads where people were not happy with the GoodYears.

Re: Need Advice - ORA Package or Not for Overland V6?

It really is a personal preference thing. I weighed the same question when I ordered mine and decided on the ORA II package. There are pros and cons about ride comfort, off-road safety, and aesthetics discussed on other threads. I have to say I'm very pleased with my decision, and love the looks, but as I said, it's all personal preference. I did put LTX M/S 2s on it. This has been a very contentious issue on the forum.

It isn't that everybody (and not nobody) hates the 18" tires. We hate the fact that Jeep is claiming they are an on/off road tire while Michelin says they were designed for the highway. On road they are smooth and quiet.

I'm not sure what the 20's are supposed to be.

Re: Need Advice - ORA Package or Not for Overland V6?

It costed me about $500 to buy the skid plates separately and install them myself. For $300, I would just go with the ORA II and 18" tires. I too prefer the look of 18" wheels and the extra sidewall for off-roading. This was my cost (front tow hooks: $230, Skid plates: $437).

Why isn't tow hooks part of ORA II package??

Sorry. I didn't mean to come across as snippy. I should have put a smiley in there because it was a light-hearted comment.

I've found that, in general, people aren't too happy with the OEM tires. Not that they're bad, but there are better choices. I'm fine with the Goodyear's on my Overland. They're OEM tires - they never are good. I'll get 30k miles out of them and replace them with something better.

That's what I plan on doing as well. Did you notice any difference in road noise or handling? Did you have the original tires long enough to notice if you had an increase or decrease in MPG?

Thanks in advance.

No prob. I guess there are no many here who are like Snow (correct?) who negotiated to trade in his tires even before he got his truck.

The LTX M/S 2 tires are just as quiet, and handle just as well as the Latitudes, and will handle much better in the snow. Couldn't say about mileage, only had the Latitudes on for 50 or so miles.
