Need help removing molding

Can anyone point me to a place that shows how to take out the carpet under the spare tire?

Let me tell you guys a really bad way to start a Monday. With only 600 miles on my car, I had a liquid accident on the back of the car.

My wife and I were invited to a birthday party for a friend of ours. In this party they told us that they found "Don Q" rum bottles being sold here in the US.

I was so excited that I bought 9 bottles. "Don Q" is a brand that is not found that easy anywhere in the US so I wasnt taking a risk of not finding them again so bought every bottle the store had.

Well on the drive home, two of the bottles broke. I wasnt planning on taking the car out during the weekend so I planned to take the bottles out on Monday (before going to work). Well this morning I found them and the panic started.

I removed the tire cover, the tire, and cleaned as much as I could, but in order to do total cleaning I need to find out how to remove the carpet under the tire.

Can someone point me to a spot where it shows you how to remove the molding and carpet around the spare tire comparment?

I've never even seen the carpet under the tire, I'll have to go take a look out there and see what I can see.

That does suck man, but I'm sure it will clean up fine. I can defnitely think of worse liquids to be spilled in the Jeep.

If you have a lingering rum smell, just play this on loop while you drive, for a more authentic experience.

First of all, as a guy whose first WK2 cargo was 15 cases of beer, I LIKE your style, brother. Your story is a mixture of bummer and kind of cool when you think about it. I always hate the thought of spilled hooch, but you christened your new ride with a libation worthy of her fineness. I'm sure you'll be able to get it cleaned up w/o much lingering after-effects. If you do, just spritz with some coconut fragrance (pina colada) or lime and mint (mojito).

Go to this link:

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_interior_trim.htm

Download the PDF file and see page 12 in the document. Let me know if that is what you need to access the area. There is also a "load floor footwell" that can be removed but that requires removing the interior carpet.

Thanks Milous. That is what I needed. I will remove the carpet too but it is easy once i get the trims off.

Cperez, I agree with you. It is sad that I lost two bottles to this, but at least it is a Fully Bless Car now for sure. I would sprinkle a bit of Coke and Lime for a "Cuba Libre" instead but I do agree with the concept HAHAHA

I thought of that too, along with Mai-Tai, Fogcutter, Zombie, and Suffering Bastard. But then you start getting into the sticky stuff and it just compounds the problem.
