I don't know what it is where you live, but typically comprehensive claims, which includes glass, have no effect on your policy. You should contact your state insurance department and ask them for a copy of the regulations pertaining to this.

Insurance companies have a way of screwing you one way or another. Example, a few months ago I was shopping for insurance quotes as I do every year when my policy renews. I go online fill out some basic info for one of the bigger carriers and get a decent quote. So I decide to go with them, I proceeded to enter my personal info such as the wife's and my driver license numbers, after that the price jumped by $300 a year.

So I called the company and question why the rate had jumped, they explained after checking my wife’s license number that she was in accident the year before, I told them it was not her fault and the other driver's insurance took full responsibility. My wife was in a shopping mall parking lot stopped at a stop sign waiting for cross traffic to clear and a car backed out of a parking spot and hit her car. The insurance company said even though my wife was not at fault she was still involved in an accident and that made her a higher risk

I'm surprised when you gave them the basic information they didn't ask if any driver had been "involved" in an accident in the past three years. If they did ask the question and you chose to leave that information out, that would raise a red flag. With the online stuff today they sometimes don't ask enough questions up front.

Since you shop every year you are probably familiar with how accidents and rates interact with each other. If you have an "at fault" accident, your policy is (under certain conditions) surcharged. If you are "involved" in any accident, you may lose the Good Drivers discount. The effect on your wallet is the same, but the regulators look at these as two different (for lack of a better word) features of a policy.

Sorry to hear about the window... This fall I had a weed wacker throw a stone through my drivers side front window of my '14 SRT... Sucks so I know your pain

My deductible is $550 and the window installed was only $289... Plus $50 for the tinting..... So I just paid for it out of pocket.. Side windows are like front windshields in terms of insurance claims. Good luck

Re: Need New Front Passenger Window

I got a quote from SpeedyGlass for $241 for front replacement. I don't know what kind of glass it is yet. Waiting for confirmation.

Anyways, is there a way to add-on to our stock alarms? Like put an impact sensor and/or glass breakage?

I had a similar problem when I called Geico for a quote upon moving to Russia. USAA, my regular ins. co. doesn't write in Russia. Here was the gist of that conversation:

Geico: Have you had any accidents in the last 5 years?

Me: Yes, I hit a deer last fall.

Geico: Was there a claim?

Me: Yes, but it was on my comprehensive coverage and deemed an "Act of God."

Geico: That's too bad. We can't give you our safe driver discount.

Me: Because a deer stepped out in front of me, I'm not a safe driver?

Geico: Was there a claim?

Me: I already told you there was.

Geico: Was the claim on YOUR insurance?

Me: Yes, it turns out that b*tch was uninsured

Geico: You dont' qualify

Me: Get bent

Having just had a GC Overland totaled by a large buck, your quote just made my day. I was reading it at work and burst out in uncontrollable laughter. Thanks!

Don't hit a deer in Russia. They could make you move to Mongolia.

That was the same company who wanted to charge me the $300 more a year for an accident that my wife could not prevent and was not her fault.
