Need Purchasing Help ASAP! Calling on Jeep Pros

I am currently in the process of needing to decide between a 2014 Overland and a 2014 Limited. Within the next few hours.

Background:
2014 Overland (Maximun Steele) is an MSO vehicle that was damaged in transportation. Front bumper, radiator and back bumber all had to be replaced but are now as good as new. 17 miles on the car and dealer has agreed to price point we want. Went to test drive and screen didnt work and dealer advised screen would be fixed and/or replaced. 5 year, 100K warranty bumper to bumper and on all parts would stand.

2014 Limited: Black, HID/Zenon headlights, panoramic sunroof, back heated seats so comes out with better features than the standard Limited. Currently 7K Same warranty would stand.

My question is, should the MSO background, radiator and screen issue throw us off? worried of having significant issues in the future. Also can not seem to find sizing differences as future kids would be in the mix for this car. HELP!

1. Avoid that Overland like the plague! Sounds like trouble.
2. Overland and limited are the same size.

I agree; stay away from the Overland! Sounds like your Limited has the Lux II package (the HIDs and pano roof are included in that package); that's a good thing. All Limiteds come with heated rear seats. And as Jrog said, the interior dimensions of Overland and Limited are the same. Don't let a salesman pressure you into buying either one - there are hundreds being made every day and they're plentiful!

+1

If dealer is pressuring you, don't make any decision for a week . Take that time to talk to other dealers. And, go to Jeep.com and learn what you can about the different models. Since you didn't know all the GC's are the same size, you would be doing yourself a favor by taking your time before you buy.

Let us know how you make out.

Thanks - I am leaning towards the limited after this - even though the 100K, 5 year warranty stands - that is the only thing advising situation can be salvageable.

That and the tech package of blind spot indicator, lane assist, and front camera for early collision indication and CC settings. Are these really worth the jump - to look for another overland?

Re: Need Purchasing Help ASAP! Calling on Jeep Pros

Well, first off I hope that you have been reading the What did you pay for your 2014 Grand Cherokee thread. You should be able to get one for several points under invoice with a little work. If those deals are better than that, I would consider them, otherwise it is no great deal. Definitely do not feel pressured to make a quick decision. There WILL be more. Personally, I would stay away from the damaged and repaired Overland. I am also very leary of low mileage vehicles being sold within the first year of production. Sometimes they are demos (and treated as such...) and other times they may be problem children that someone wanted to get out of. With the deals they are making to sell brand new ones, I wouldn't be too excited to jump on either of those two. YMMV.

Good luck!

Correction, Sept 9 or later.....IMHO you would be wise to not accept a build date of Sept 8, 2013 OR earlier. Late August seems to be the cut date for possibly more problematic "early" builds but 9/8 seems to be the cut date for the brake booster recall for freezing water causing braking issues and they are supposedly making it a little different now (9/9+) with crimp sealed edges or whatever.

Early builds are not problems (probably most trouble free) but plenty of evidence to suggest later is better.

Re: Need Purchasing Help ASAP! Calling on Jeep Pros

Neither, work out a good deal and order one. The cutoff is this Friday!

FWIW, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong...my limited knowledge and searching determined that the "average" good price is 4% below invoice. Great prices are 5%+, with the DC Group Buy probably being the best at 7% below invoice. Now, I'm sure others have negotiated even better, but it's going to depend on your location and local dealers. For me, 4% seems to be the best I can get, and plan on ordering Thursday. YMMV

4% will give you a very realistic idea of what you should be paying, and you can compare that price to what the dealer is offering you.

I would absolutely stay away from that damaged Overland though.

Close, the DC buy charges a fee so it nets out to 6% below invoice.

Just checking, you have been below to determine what invoice is for your config, right?

2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

You back out $995 destination to subtract % off invoice discounts and then add destination back in for final price.

Re: Need Purchasing Help ASAP! Calling on Jeep Pros

I don't know.....if the Overland was a recent build (per the posts above) and they only replaced the bumper covers and radiator.....I wouldn't be afraid of it especially with the free extended warranty. A little bit of shipping damage that was basically cosmetic....no scared at the right price. Press for 7 year warranty though...
