Need to transport a mattress on the roof. What do I need to do this? Thanks for any help!

Get it delivered or put it in a trailer.
It is not worth damaging the car with straps to save a few bucks. The only way aside from roof racks, would be to run a strap around it on the front and rear doors. This however will damage the paint and door rubbers. The mattress is flexible and needs to be tied down properly.

Nope, but you should put a board on it before you put the mattress on it, as it will flop around. Best to strap it to something solid.

And be sure to secure the FRONT edge.

We saw a knucklehead this past weekend trucking along at 65mph with a mattress strapped to his roof, secured only from the sides via the windows.

The front edge was flipped UP into the wind, lifting the entire mattress off the roof - IT WAS FLYING several inches above the roof! The guy had NO CLUE.

EEK!

I bet there were 4 people in the car, each one holding one of those little rope handles on the side of the mattress! You can't make this stuff up!
