Re: Negotiating a deal when ordering

Ordered my new Jeep last night. Yippee!! So, here's a recap:

1. I did NOT use Affiliate Pricing. I did stop by a dealership (that I knew I wasn't going to order from) to see what the pricing would be. For the Limited 4x4 with the options I wanted (well, most of them, because they couldn't give me a price on the 730N radio. really?) came out to $40,365 - which for the way the car was equipped was close to the 1% below invoice that the program states.

Ended up going to a high volume dealer who was able to give me about $1450 below invoice. Sweet deal.

2. Taxes. In Illinois, if you purchase out of state, you pay the taxes for the state and county where the car is registered. If you purchase within Illinois, and do not live in Chicago/Cook, you pay the taxes at the location of purchase. Apparently, city/village taxes do come into play when determining the location of purchase. So, instead of buying from my local dealer (where there is an additional 1% village tax), I ended up heading south to another county and saved a few hundred dollars as well.

Overall, the process went very smoothly. Now I just have to wait like the rest of you. THAT'S the hard part!
