You don't really lose any usable room so it doesn't matter.

There we go. Would I take a recall to get the new one, yes. Do I like the existing one, yes.

I don't hate on the 14/15. I think it's unique and looks great, but I'd take a smooth action traditional shifter any day.

I hate it on the 14/15. I think it's unique like a screen door on a submarine or a led balloon and looks OK, but I'd take a smooth action traditional shifter any day.

Great minds think alike!!........

Re: New '16 shifter - fit in a '14?

I don't have any problem with the look or operation of the 14-15 shifter. I think the 16 shifter looks good as well. Being that it's not a T-handle, I suspect it won't be so easy to brush with your thigh when you're readjusting yourself in the seat.

New '16 shifter - fit in a '14?

Ok so will the '16 shifter work in a 14-15? Not sure if we got a definitive answer.

I would assume it's just the console trim, shifter and then a re-flash by the dealer.

Also, the sport mode has changed to a button on the dash. (Where the heated seat buttons should be LOL)

Re: New '16 shifter - fit in a '14?

I seriously doubt you'll be seeing '14-'15 shifters converted to '16. If anything, maybe a software fix, as has been mentioned before in this thread.

I prefer the 2014-2015 with static shifter position

Isn't that TOP picture just a pre-production version? It shows a "Sport" mode on the rotary dial when we know its now just a button on the center console.

Re: New '16 shifter - fit in a '14?

I noticed the shifter in a 2016 Summit also has stitching on it. Looks better than without stitching IMO.

Re: New '16 shifter - fit in a '14?

Why in the world would they move sport mode to a button 'away' from the shifter on the '16? They could have easily did the same as the 14-15 by having you pull back on the shifter while in Drive mode. Now you have to reach for a button? Not the safest method.

Man, I cant get over that goofy looking chrome strip they added to the bottom of that console door in front of the shifter. Granted I haven't yet seen it in person, but based off pictures I have seen so far, it looks like someone went to Autozone and bought a chrome strip and randomly glued it on.
