I have had one. My cousin has a new m4 and an x3 I'm sure you will find people that don't like it. But the owners would probably be one time buyers or first time buyers . Repeat buyers who are used to it I wouldn't assume have any qualms about it.

But I'm speaking for myself and family not the majority. Consumer reports also said the jGC is the worst suv ever and I picked it over the competition after having no new explorer for the past few years. I don't see the situation ever gaining enough ground to initiate a recall to have it swapped out.

Um ... no. They said it was among the worst picks for a used car because of reliability issues. They actually like the vehicle otherwise - a lot. And 2015's are running above average and much better than average so far in their reliability reporting. So enjoy your ride. (I bet you would anyway.)

Re: New '16 shifter - fit in a '14?

I hear people complaining about the small chrome strip on the door by the shifter. I too think it cheapens the look, but after some thought, it may come in handy. Since I have Dish network on my iPhone, I have been known to put the phone on the door lip to watch football games when I drive (I only look down when at stoplights), or to use the iPhone as a second nav system. It would sit on the door and wedge under a knob above, but would often fall off. This chrome piece may be the ticket in keeping it held in place. Will know when I get the new ride in less than a month.

New '16 shifter - fit in a '14?

Can someone take a picture of the connector used in the '16? Or at least how the new shifter is connected under the center console.

Id like to compare it to the one in my '15.

It takes two seconds to pop the trim up with your fingers.

Obviously your the wrong person to be responding to this request.

Simple resolution to this. The OP could go to a dealer and sit in a 16 and see for himself. This way he can see every angle and detail required to answer his question

Re: New '16 shifter - fit in a '14?

The new shifter is electric, just like the old one. Just re-designed to give it set indents for every gear. I too would be hesitant to pop the cover off to give a picture just for someones curiosity. My luck is that I would break off a plastic tab.
I would hold of on trying to convert it to the new style. My guess is that in the end, the NTSB is going to make jeep recall the jeeps to replace them. Just a gut feeling.

And those clips never break or the tabs. 🙄
Go tear your dash apart and post a pic of your heater core. I'd like to see if it's the same as my SRT. it's only a few screws and a dozen or so clips. I'm sure it'll be fine. Lol

How about posting some pics of your connector first. That way we can all compare when the connector on the 16' is finally revealed?

Ok, here you go. It took more time to walk outside and take the pic than it did to pop the trim off.
