It's a little blurry and could you disconnect it so we can see how many and the arrangement of each terminal?

All I need is a picture showing exactly what I took a picture of. Just need an idea of what the newer assembly looks like under there.

Re: New '16 shifter - fit in a '14?

Not sure if this helps, but I snapped the best picture I could of my 2015 shifter. I don't know how to get the actual shift handle off so I can only get the console panel up just enough to sneak this picture. If anyone knows how to get a 2014/2015 shift handle off I can take all the pictures you want.
To the guys not risking removing the panel, it really is easier than you think. Pops right off takes two seconds and no risk of breaking anything. Glad I can help ;-)

Kudos to you for doing it. 👍🏻 How much do you hate your shifter?

I'll take the opposite bet. Perhaps some software changes, but they aren't going to replace the shifter with the 2016 version ... not gonna happen. I guess we'll just have to sit back and wait to find out.

I don't want the 2016 Shifter!

All Jeep has to do is move the PARK function to a separate button, either on the shifter (my preference) or somewhere else. Then just change the display on the shifter.

There are many things that would work. The thing is, I believe most people don't want every car they get into to have a different configuration. Certain functions, when it comes to driving a car, should be standardized. Up until recently most were.

Re: New '16 shifter - fit in a '14?

I remember when the newer body style BMW 7 series came out way back...people thought that thing was a alien space ship with all the new and unique things it had. I kid you not, I could not figure out how to use the turn signal LOL.
If people raise this much hell over this shifter, imagine how it was for the BMW 7 series :-o

I vividly remember going to the NY World's Fair in 1964. GM or somebody was exhibiting a "Car of the Future." It didn't have a steering wheel. Mounted on the end of the steering column instead was a straight bar with a couple of U-shaped cups to rest your wrists in. Glad that one didn't catch on.

Here's a few more pics of the '14-'15 shifter module and wire harness.
