Re: New '16 shifter - fit in a '14?

As much as I love the new shifter there is no way I'd upgrade a 2015/2014.
Even if doable.

The legal, liability, warranty and resale issues would be huge.

I would change the shifter in a heartbeat if it were endorsed by Jeep and made available at a reasonable cost.

Here are the two connectors - 2016 on top, 2014 on the bottom

Anyone interested can PM me - I have more photos, but won't clutter the thread.

Looks like the wires are the same, but not sure if they send the same signal - besides, a swap necessitates a new mounting structure, which means a full console disassembly - I doubt Jeep would sanction an exchange unless under severe pressure to do so.

I'd be amazed if that happened. Unless more people get hurt with the old shifter (with recall done).

Drove the '16 with the new shifter. Hands down 100% better than old shifter. I was sceptical but definitely way easier to operate, much more intuitive.
