Scott, these aren't mules.

The tailgate looking more vertical is an optical illusion. That would require a ground up redesign, and no Grand Cherokee has ever had one anyway.
...pretty much what i figured based on the pics and what I've been told by folks that have seen these on the road recently here in michigan.

Given the dimensions are the same, I wonder what the new headlights would look like in the 11-'13? I'm sure it would be a tough retro project given the updated elec system.

Agreed. Same rounded and softening trend happened to the recent generation Cayenne and Touareg, which I also did not find appealing. Add that smiley, wing-ding-thing of a grill wrap and it just doesn't look as angular or aggressive.

Maybe the blackout Altitude headlamp prices will come down a bit. I'm feeling those plus the SRT8 hood.

haha, and I think the opposite The new design looks to euro and soft. Plus the led headlight liner is played out. Everyone including Hyundai has them now.

Ditto. Most of the car manufacturers are just sticking the LED running lights which is kind of lame. I am so glad my 2012 does not have them. It has been done to death and quite frankly, they look good only on select Audi models (R8, Q5, A8? etc).

Cheers,
-A

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

the lines are much sharper now...especially on the front bumper. Maybe we have different opinions or definitions for sharp lines and soft lines. there is DEFINETELY no soft lines to the bumper and headlights

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

That grey on the Laredo looks like sh!t. The wheels look terrible. Must be the same group of turds that ruined the JK Sahara and Rubicon wheels.

1st impressions are usually true. To ME, the current WK2 is perfect in every way in and out looks/design wise. Looks classy, upscale and rugged. Kind of like the original XJ was. Timeless. Then when they "refreshed" the XJ in 97 it looked softer, more plasticy and cheap. I feel kind of the same about this refresh. I think a Laredo X with Ltd grille swap will be the way to go. Ive had a few vehicles where I said "It will grow on me" AKA hideous vehicles (4th Gen 4Runner/5th Gen 4Runner/06 WK). Look never grew on me and dumped them. I just wish the grille/bumper was same as current WK2 with new lights, same for back. I like the angular rear tails more than rounded ones. Front lights are gonna look awesome, I like no chrome strip on back, interior will be even nicer I bet so all in all...it will be ok in certain trims I think!

sorry, that's what i thought he was talking about. that it was soft STARTING in 11, and that this further softens the look..

Agreed, the grey grill on the Laredo model looks HORRIBLE! Makes no sense to have that and is totally out of place.

Spot on ... it appears Chrysler has recently hired a bunch of design engineer interns for these refreshed models. It clearly shows in the style and what I refer to as "disposible vehicles."

I think timeless designs are a thing of the past..

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

Honestly .... I could live with the headlights if they smooth them out like the 300C. I don't think they belong but it could be tolerable. I like the new front valance that looks off-road worthy. I guess I could live with the rounded soccer mom nose too but the smiling grill... good lord that is feminine.

I'd like to see someone photochop the current lights in to the new spy shot to hide the wings of the grill. I bet that would be mean looking.
