Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

OMG, UGLY! Why did Jeep have to ****-up something that took them years to get right! Now the Jeep looks like crap again! Doesn't Chrysler realize that constant changes to the exterior just cheapen the brand??? Have they not learned anything from their European competitors? If it's not broken, DON'T FIX IT!!! The BMW front facial has been basically unchanged for decades...Just slight refinement. as a proud 2012 owner, this just makes me sick.

I'd like to see someone photochop the current lights in to the new spy shot to hide the wings of the grill. I bet that would be mean looking.
These look good and I like how the body panels fits right up to the edge of the lights unlike in the spy shots for refresh. It just looks like someone forgot a piece of the body panels or they measured the grill insert wrong and now we're stuck with that gap below the headlights. I showed my wife and that's the first thing she has pointed out. The full reveal has to either fix this or take attention off it or else she won't have this and we will have to buy either a 2013 or something else.

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

i think it looks great the old model was great too but i think its a good update, looks a bit more modern and with more current trends as far as styling goes. i think it looks meaner and has a bit more presence with the new grille shape and sharp headlights. the rear looks better to me too idk why everyone is so upset about the tail lights no offense to anyone but the old ones were ugly and that chrome piece was out of place, now it looks fluid. it actually reminds me more of a vw touareg tail lights than the durango but i like the jeeps better

I'm not sure whether I would agree with that but I think what people mean is not the bumper (which I like), they refer to the grille. I think it is obvious that the new slots are rounder, ie softer than the current ones. Furthermore the grille does not end at the headlights with clear sharp vertical lines. It now kind of "flows" to the sides and this is what looks softer (some people say it looks like a smile which I don't see). The grille was the dominanting piece on the front which it will no longer be.

I think there is the same issue with the current SRT grille but it is less important in that case as the car is overall more agressive, and by the way I like what you did with your grille I will have to copy that

Overall the 14 GC still looks very good but it doesn't stand out as much as it did before. And I think this what people (including me) liked about the current model, especially abroad! I don't want a European car, especically no German make as they are boring. I want a car with character and I think Chrysler/Jeep has been very good about this in the past and still is.

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

agree...I like the bumper other than the top portion where there is a rounded lip from headlight to headlight. The other noticeable difference is the grille appears not only softer but angled and not nearly as vertical as the current model which takes away from the more agressive look.

I also can't get over how they basically took the identical lines as the current compass for both bumper and grille. I am trying to like it, but it's looking like my plans for the '14 are slim to none at this point.

I think he was just referring to the fact that the bumper does not flow up into the light as it does in the 300C picture posted previously by Jeff. I, too, agree that this is a poor design and makes it look as though they had initially come up with another headlight design that would have filled the entire void, but then decided to simply take the curved headlight that is on the 300C and place it in the location leaving a gap that they then filled with the black/mesh piece to fill the void.

correct. IF they are redesigning the grill and making it a single piece from one side to the other, why not design it to fit up to the light? However, this also confirms that the base models for '14 may keep with the same design as the 11-13 specs.

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

It has been amusing reading these initial comments.

I am praying Chrysler did justice to the headlights when the tape comes off or when the final version shows up.

I know it will take a while for some to get used to and some may never get used to the facelift.

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

I'll wait and reserve final judgement until I see one in person, but I'm not a fan of the piece under the headlights. It just looks out of place compared to the current model.

Personally I think they should have left the body panels as is, replaced the headlights and taillights with LED versions and updated the interior. Other details such as body color moldings and de-chroming would have been fine as well. I don't think anything else was needed for a mid-model refresh.

Are you certain of this? According to Marlon, he's claiming this is the finished product with the black plastic being a "filler". It sort of looks like the LED DRL is within the housing near the inside portion...more of an LED Bar vs. individual led dots.

We'll know very soon, i guess.

I hope you're correct.
