Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

Not a fan of the chrome rings, and I guess no chance of a tasteful all chrome grill now.

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

Like I posted elsewhere...

If this IS in fact the final production version...Eck! No thanks! I'll keep my 2012 Overland. I like the new headlights, but the new front fascia is ugly...they apparently think the front needs to look like a Compass and the rear-end needs to look like the Durango...Eck, again!! The current JGC is better looking than the Durango, IMO...if I wanted a Durango, I'd buy a Durango...same for the Compass.

Looks like the JGC just lost it's individuality. It's kinda like the Durango & Compass got jealous & ganged up for a beat-down on their older brother (JGC) and made sure to leave their mark before they were done, leaving the WK2 JGC scarred for life.

Definitely won't be buying the 2014 models...maybe a 2018 model, when it gets a new, hopefully better, design.

Take note...for anyone thinking about swapping out HL or TL assemblies for a pseudo-Lighting Update for the DIY'ers...looks like the designers made sure you won't be able to do so. The new HL's appear to be slimmer units, look at where the bottom of HL is in relation to line at end of front fender (where fascia meets up)...then compare same reference point on '11-'13 model...keep in mind they didn't change the fenders. The HL on current models drops below that line, where on 2014's it appears follow the line as bottom of HL versus dropping below it.

Though, like others...I'll reserve final opinion for when it officially launches.

Please don't let those be the wheels (especially on the higher end model).

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

I wish there was a straight on front shot, would make this alot better.

I think the tape on the headlights make it look different, but once it is removed it will probably look alot better... I'm excited!!

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

I do like the ringed grill, although I prefer the way the 2012 SRT8 looks. I don't like the 'wings' the extend from the grill under the headlights. I think the headlights will look awesome (even when the tape comes off). As far as wheels, it seems like the black model with the chrome mirrors is a Limited which also has a Trail Rated badge. I guess these are the 18's that will come with a Trail Rated Limited (like the current Laredoish 18s that come on the Trail Rated Limited/Overland). Interested to see if the current 20s make their way onto the 2014 or if new 20s will be introduced.

What's up with that dark plastic under the headlights? The headlights look like they were from another model and then made to fit using some sort of aftermarket kit. Horrible looking.

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

Though they axed the chrome rear brow and grill, the rings and Lone Ranger/Robin facemask grill wrap ain't pretty. I also like the black out lights from the Altitude vs. the Catwoman look of the new front headlights. Just sayin.

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

It looks nice, but not so nice that I feel like I'm missing something by not upgrading.

The black stuff on the bottom of the headlights is just tape. They are hiding the LED DRL's.

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

I'm not feeling the rounded off grill. That has to be tape on the headlights though, so the jury is still out on them.
