Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

I just noticed something that's a little strange. I wonder if these pics could be limited and overland models? When looking at the earlier spy shots with the front-end covered, the lines underneath match these new pics except for the fact the headlights do not show the DRL LED within the headlight and look more like today's HID setup. I wonder if only the overland/limiteds get the LED DRL as these headlights are clearly differen than the earlier spy shots?

Just threw this together real quick, for my own sake but thought I'd drop it here as well:

Top: 2014 WK2 Grill - Current WK2 Grill - Compass Grill
Bottom: 2014 WK2 Tail - Current WK2 Tail - Current Durango Tail

1 is a Laredo and the other is a Limited. The back of 1 of them even says Laredo

Looking at those images, I'd even say that the current taillights are closer to the Dodge than the new ones...

LOL, you see this all the time on internet forums...

I consider myself pretty unbiased, I trade cars a lot and if I like a new model, it won't be long until I swap. For instance I'm honestly not a fan of the new Lexus ES for the most part, even though the lease is up on mine next year I'm still not sure what I'm going to do next there.

Anywho, as for the 2014 I like the new rear, not a huge fan of the front.

Re: New 2014 Spy Pics on Autoblog

Interesting thing on the grill, new vs. "old" (current)... I've always loved the look of the WK2, and honestly feel it's one of the nicest looking vehicles on the road today (and the nicest looking SUV by far), but sometimes when I see them in person, I've always thought that there was something just ever so very slightly "off" when looking at it head on. Not ugly or bad looking by any means mind you...

Anyway after reading some comments elsewhere I think I know what it is: the current grill, while alone by itself looks beautiful, might be a little disproportionately large and tall compared to the headlights. Love or hate the look of the new grill and headlights, I think the one thing they may have improved is the size proportions of the two.

Just my opinion of course, and I could be wrong. And again who knows what it'll look like in person or when we see more pictures...

I've been waiting to purchase and unfortunately I'm fairly disappointed. While I will still wait to see a finished product, my enthusiasm and anticipation is severely diminished, and I'd say I'm now more than 50% likely to look for a 2012 to buy, rather than purchase the 2014. I will hate to give up many of the new features in the 2014, but I'm real disappointed.

The 2012 looks much classier to me.

The 8 speed trans alone will make the 2014 worth waiting for.

Maybe someone with Photoshop skills can eliminate that tape on the headlights to give us a better indication of what it will really look like...

Bingo. Thats what i always thought from day 1, 2.5 years ago. To me, they dont look any closer to the durango shape than the current model already does.

Especially when you consider that the WK2 in this image is a special edition. The "usual" WK2 has the chrome stripe between the taillights which is as close to the Dodge as it gets. Not that I would have an issue with that but claiming that the MY14 would all of a sudden be a copy of the Dodge while the current model isn't is - IMO - very far fetched..
