Re: New: 2015 Grand Cherokee High Altitude Edition

Some of the features that I really like that a Laredo doesn't have are (starting front to back):
-front park sensors (love these things for parking)
-adaptive, auto leveling, bi-xenon HID headlights with auto high beam.
-V8!!!!!!!! No need to say more. Decent power and sounds so good inside.
-power folding, blind spot indicating side mirrors
-Interior!!! Grand Canyon brown, suede headliner (only black available on HA and A).
-pano sunroof (love this)
-adaptive cruise control is awesome!
-cross path detection works very well as does blind spot monitoring.
-HK audio. After having it, it's a must have. Sounds insane. (Available on HA)
-rain sensing wipers. Go ahead call me lazy, but they work incredibly well!!
-ventilated seats. Will not own another car without them!
-air suspension. I don't have a need for it, but it's a cool feature and I like aero mode and exit-entry height and being able to put it in OR2 to get under the Jeep and work on it!
-power liftgate. Does the Altitude even get that? I would hope so but I'm not sure.

Besides all the feature and options mentioned, the styling and exterior changes are what put me out of the Laredo/Altitude models. if I didn't already have a Summit and was in the market right now I think the HA would be the model of choice. Looks sooo good in person. Next to the regular Altitude something about it just looks meaner, more expensive, and a little classier but yet has the blacked out look that a lot of people like. I think the black chrome features and use of Summit bumpers and SRT skirts give it that higher end look that you just don't get in a regular altitude.

Yes the altitude has power liftgate standard.

I really wanted a few of the overland features when I was shopping around like you spoke about above but after initially thinking I was making a sacrifice, not having them now I can't say I feel I'm missing anything that is actually useful.

I appreciate the breakdown of the features the headlights and power folding mirrors would be nice for sure but I've had those features in the past and on my other cars and ended up never using them. Plus with Chrysler quality control they are just another thing to break in my eyes.

The HA sounds like it's exactly what you are looking for though, can't wait to see it, I can understand why someone would want it I get that totally!

I'm actually surprised how much I like my altitude considering it's less then half the price of all the cars I've purchased the past 10 years. It's a pretty well thought out package that covers most bases just missing a few odds and ends here and there that they should have made available options. So I see why people would go for the HA. I personally think the altitude should have been based off the overland from the start since it's currently a mutant Laredo/limited

So weird coming from people who own a car that almost looks identical to it. To the average person the HA and A look identical. You would think atleast ONE Altitude owner on this site....just one, would be like damn that thing is pretty much exactly like my car but has all the features and gadgets of the Overland...Wow, I really like that. haha, Nope.

Re: New: 2015 Grand Cherokee High Altitude Edition

Well I think we can go back and forth for ever, and that's because it's basically personal preference. I actually hate chrome in general and the overland and summit are chromed out lol. I don't know when I see chrome is just reminds me of old Oldsmobiles and Cadillacs in the 80s...gross lol
Features are all great, but even if the altitude didn't have any features at all, I'd still buy it simply for how much better it looks than any other model in the jeep line with exception to the srt of course...
Again it's my opinion...I'm still relatively young and that's the style I personally like...would I expect my 70 year old dad to get a murderedout altitude or an elegant looking summit...again to each their own and let's see what this HA really can look like once some jeepgarage members put their hands on it lol

We here on the forum are not "average" hense why everyone is being so critical over the HA model.

My biggest peeve with it is solely the looks, not features. The summit styled bumper, the weird blend of blackish color chrome trim, gloss black wheels, gloss black badges and chrome window trim is what im in question about. Its like someone at the factory one day went shopping down the parts isles and slapped it all on an overland and tagged it HA.

To me its a piece meal job and just another model to add to the chaos in an already crowded GC lineup.

At Least the Altitude stands out as its own defined model. I think everything flows pretty well (cosmetically) minus the chrome window trim and grey tail bezels (on all 2014's and early 2015's) which can be easily wrapped, painted or swapped with SRT bezels.

I get compliments on my Jeep at least 2-3 times a week from random people. To me that says jeep did the 2014-2015 Altitude right. I think it would be in their best interest to keep the Altitude model going, especially at its current price point.

If the HA was a current altitude but with overland body and options we would. Buts it's not it's a summit which is for a different consumer base... Literally everyone you see driving a summit is over 45 and usually a woman.

The problem is that people need to see that the HA and altitude have very little in common. Just like the high altitude and altitude editions of other models. They are not the same or trying to be. They appeal to completely different markets as clearly shown here on the forums.

I guess the problem started because all the altitude owners thought they would finally be able to get what they wanted from jeep but then we got this which wasn't what we were asking for. (Overland base + options for current altitude)

I'm a 25 year old guy and will be upgrading to a HA or a summit next year. In the end it all comes down to personal preferences. Just like with anything else.

Opinions will be opinions and each of us will do what we want no matter what anyone else says or does.

Re: New: 2015 Grand Cherokee High Altitude Edition

I can't believe how much defense there is with the HA. We are in the right forum to discuss pro's and con's, not just "why everyone should have one". Yes it's a JGC and yes it's going to be analyzed. No it's not "just" the Altitude owners being very critical.

Being it a JGC to be at the Summit level you just expect it to be more refined for the price. Not a Frankenstein of those upper superior packages (Summit / SRT) with the same upper superior costs.
