I personally don't like the platinum edition. It makes the summit look cheap and more like the HA. Nah

Re: New commerical with Black Summit?

I just want to know who came up with the idea.

"Hey, on the Overland, we'll paint all the lower trim and fenders body color. But on the higher model Summit, we'll paint the lower valence all around the vehicle dark grey, no matter what color the car is. So it can simulate the gray plastic, but with all the upkeep of actual paint!"

And don't get me started on the chrome mirrors and door handles. I can handle the grille and taillights and even the chrome on the bumpers/side skirts. But the gaudy, ghetto mirrors and handles is ridiculous. My dad's new F150 does the same thing, it looks terrible.

Check out how much chrome is on a Cayenne, Range Rover or X5? Since when does splattering chrome all over an SUV make it more luxury?

Re: New commerical with Black Summit?

^^Chrome has always been a luxury statement. Americans are the only ones still holding onto that... Have you checked out an Escalade, Yukon Denali, LTZ Tahoe/Suburban? They have a lot of chrome too. I personally don't mind it on the GC. I think it makes the Summit look cheap when it's all body matching...

Mercedes also continues to slather their vehicles in chrome maybe that's why GCs are coated in it a left over from those days. I don't mind a little chrome but the GC did go overboard with some. Definitely dropping the chrome on the mirors and door handles like the Platinum does is a good idea. Color matters also, chrome blends in a little better with colors like white and less on the darker colors. I have adjusted to it though, I think pictures make it look worse than it is, I almost didn't buy the summit when I saw the first pictures of it with those wheels lol I don't think twice about them now though. But the mirrors I still think are obnoxious.

Hahaha, agreed! I have a black summit, the gray valences bother me... So does the "orange peel" texture in my paint...

Re: New commerical with Black Summit?

I like the Platinum edition, but for some reason that edition does make the Summit look cheaper. I have a '14 Summit and had the lower skirts all paint matched and I think it looks great now. The chrome doesn't bother me, but the gray side skirts did...atleast on my white Summit. Let's face it, if they lose all the chrome it's gonna look closer to a Laredo and I think that's where the cheaper look comes from for me. Either way I love the regular and platinum edition Summit. It's nice they give people choices!

I am glad I am not the only person who does not think chrome is classy.....
I have always preferred color matched mirrors and handles. Unless you are chroming parts on a Harley, I personally think chrome looks cheap.

Re: New commerical with Black Summit?

I think the painted wheels on the Cali edition look cheap compared to the polished wheels. Like the body colored mirrors and door handles tho.
