new factory orders free of defects?

my dealer placed an order for a white base overland with black interior since no canadian dealers around had one in stock. he said 7-10 wks for delivery.

i guess it's going to be built at the factory? am i correct in assuming new GCs coming off the assembly line will have all the latest updates and TSBs corrected, including the new brake issue?

Re: new factory orders free of defects?

From what I understand Chrysler puts in changes on the line as soon if not before they release them to the dealer service center for already built vehicles. I know my JGC came with a Uconnect FW that was higher revision than what was out for everyone else when I bought it, in fact it was never released for updating, they went to a newer version a month or two later. You should be good from that stand point. Congrats on the order hope it arrives soon!

Re: new factory orders free of defects?

I would say they will never be completely free from defects.

But it is safe to assume that the issues from the past that have been resolved will be resolved in a vehicle that has not yet been built.

But it should also be assumed that there will be more TSB's and recalls that havent yet surfaced that your vehicle may be involved in.

I have a 1994 ZJ and received a recall notice for it a few months ago.. so 20 years later and issues still pop up.

Re: new factory orders free of defects?

Based on the recall thread the brake issue is only up to build up to September 8, 2013 so that shouldn't affect you. I have a November 2013 build and so far it's been perfect (other than pretty close to useless NAV).

Re: new factory orders free of defects?

There's still some nagging issues for the 2014 GC Chrysler/Jeep has no fixes for yet, so to answer your question...no, your new vehicle will not be perfect.

Main problem I have is that whenever I take a trip and I'm off a major highway it seems to take me down every side street as opposed to Google Maps that takes me on the largest and more practical roads. I've tired different avoidance and settings and it doesn't seem to change this. Could be there is an update for it. I haven't really looked into it more than trying different settings. Other than that the jeep is great. I made the mistake of letting my wife drive it and now she wants it.

Re: new factory orders free of defects?

I have zero issues with my NAV and has been much better than my 13 Outback.
If you want zero defects I don't know what to tell because there is no such things.
I am very impressed with the diesel JGC but mine is not perfect, never owned a defect free car either and that includes Asian and German.
Given how good cars and trucks are these days this is turning out to be a really good one at least for me...

...
My NAV was fine in my 2011 GC, so really don't know what's up with this one. For me the jeeps have been great mechanically, but the audio/visual/nav components always seem to be a step behind many other manuf.
