Hi everyone- new member and new owner of my first Jeep- a 2015 Overland 4X4. I have owned it for 4 days now and I am very happy with the choice. Looking forward to being a part of the Jeep community!
Thanks for the warm welcome...so here's my first question- I was looking through the owners manual, and I don't see a recommended oil change frequency. It does talk about not going over 10,000 miles, but the only reference is to change the oil when the meter on the instrument cluster tells you to. Any guidance for me here- do you wait on the JGC to tell you or set the interval yourself? In other vehicles I've owned, I've always set the interval myself...
Thanks for the input- out of sheer nerd curiosity, what does it look at to determine when an oil change is needed? Is it driving patterns or is there something measuring the condition of the oil, or what?
It's a combination of the things you mention, to the best of my knowledge. Many vehicles today are able to "monitor" the condition of the oil in addition to evaluate how they are being driven. Da computers are taking over.
