First off, my name is pat and i currently own a 2007 G35 sedan and come from a bunch of infinti forums. The car is starting to give me problem and i am looking to get out of it and am extremely interested in the Gran Cherokee Limited.
So tomorrow i am going to the dealership and hopefully working out a deal to pick up a new GC Limited. The main things i want are the 20's and navigation. I was hoping to get some input from those whom already got similar packages to see where my payments should be about so i don't get ripped off. I would also greatly appreciate it if you guys can help me out if there is anything else i should look for. Really appreciate the help.
i guarantee you will get ripped off if you don't research first what your car is worth on kbb.com (or edmunds.com) and what the JGC you want is worth at invoice. are you trading in your old car? you need to know what it's worth trade in value first. which trim level are you looking for? since you want the 20in wheels i assume you either want the limited (aren't the 20s an add on?) or the overland. use truecar or another car buying service and you should be able to get at least $1000 under invoice.
negotiating based on what you want your payment to be is one of the worst things you can do. they play all kinds of games with that. there are calculators on bankrate.com where you put in the financed amount and the interest rate and it shows your monthly payment. i got 1.99 for 48 months through pentagon federal.
if you can get $1000 under invoice for the JGC you want, get "good" or better trade-in price for you G35 and get a great financing rate (under 3%) you will have done good.
i wouldn't go to the dealership until you have done your research and have all this information in hand. being prepared will save you money. btw - there are quite a few thread around on this very same subject that might be of some help to you.
Thank you very much. As far as my G i will be trading it in. I know the exact amount owed on it so i will need to get pretty close to that. As far as the trim, i am looking at the limited being that i do not "need" all the extras the upper packages have.
I know from past experience that negotiating based on payment is not a good thing but to negotiate based on the invoice price of the car. I will deffinitely give truecar a shot and write all my numbers down for tommorow.
also - some have been able to get really good deals (like a few thousand below invoice) by buying a jeep off the lot vs custom ordering one. this is not the route i went since they didn't have any V6 on the lot.
you may have better luck negotiating with more than one dealer. suggest using email or the phone - it will save you some time.
Hey Guys,
So today i went to a few dealerships and am puzzled. I went to three dealerships and got prices of about $420-$450/Month with $2,500 down Invoive of $39k. This was for a Loaded limited x, they said payments on a Limited with be around $480-$490 with the same $2,500 down invoice of $43k. Now based off of my knowledge on the pricing these trucks should be much lower, even said he worked in a $2k discount. Now is it me, or are these places extremely overpriced?
Can anyone chime in with a rough lease payment and how much they put down?
And yes, i did negotiate (very little as they were not moving much) using the invoice price before getting the payments.
