New Member AZ, Pricing for Grand Cherokee Limited 4X4 and TrailHawk

Hi All!

Just got back from 4 hours at local dealership looking at different models and options getting an idea for what I want to buy this upcoming 4th of July weekend. Was looking for what you guys paid for your Grand Cherokees and what type of pricing I should be asking for without looking like a fool.

I typically lease my vehicles but if the price is amazing I'd buy. Looking for a TrailHawk Luxury option and the Limited with the same or comparable options. Have to have 4x4.

Any and all info you guys can give me I would sincerely appreciate!

Try searching for what you want on Cars.com (country wide) and sort by price. There are always a wide range and some prices are "To good to be true" because of some issue. But when you see a batch of vehicles from multiple dealers you can be confident that, that is a common good price.

I think anything better than 5% below invoice is reasonable deal.

You can also compare "Koon's deal" (search for it on forum) for reference which I think is 8% below invoice (you generally won't do better than that).
Look at the Stickies for Invoice prices and take 5% (or more) off that.

Also you need to double check if prices include destination charge (they usually do) and document fees (they usually don't).

I'd shop TODAY before end of month if you're looking for something on the Lot.

A month ago I got a Trailhawk v6, with Lux, blind spot, adaptive cruise and nav (every Option except DVD players and engine block heater) for 42k, stock was 50k. It was 1% under invoice.

Also, Koons can get you 4% under invoice on the TH, and 5% under invoice for Limited, but they need to be ordered.

Thank you all for your responses,

what are the major differences between the Limited 4X4 with Lux II pkg, Adventure II pkg, and Jeep Active Safety Group; and the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk? Is it just the style?

I'm pretty much a first time buyer/Lessee (only once before this), as far as pricing my monthly payment, is there a general rule I can follow that translates total price to approximate monthly payment? I have a max down payment of $3500 and am aiming for my monthly payment to be $350 to $450. What price range should I be looking in?

Also, are there any tips I need to know to try and get the best deal? Once I find the price I think is fair do I just call all the dealerships in a 300 mile radius and see if they'll give me the deal? Or am I missing something?

Thanks again!

Do not put anything down on a lease beyond first months payment, there are many schools of thought on this but basically it doesn't make sense to put money down on a lease. Should the car get totaled or stolen you loose that money, leases carry GAP insurance, so buying down the capitalized cost of the car doesn't make sense.

General rule of thumb for most cars is aim to be 1% of MSRP per month max, though you can do better on the GC right now. Right now of the 2 you are looking at the Limited has the best lease program, and is leasing with a MF of .0001 (basically free money at less than .25%). Trailhawk is at .00071 (1.7%) which is still not too bad. Keep in mind dealers will mark up this MF to pad their profit.

Do a search for invoice pricing on the model you are looking at, and remember that Jeep has a 3% of MSRP holdback as well so that is also dealer profit built in that you can shift in your favor as additional discount below INV. Once you have that number (INV - 3% MSRP) you can start discounting further with regional and national incentives. Check with jeep.com and edmunds.com and see what lease cash they have, as well as loyalty and conquest, etc and any other rebates. Whatever that price is should be your starting point.

You are coming up on not just the end of the month but the end of the quarter for dealerships. Chrysler will have incentives for dealers for making both month and quarterly numbers, they can be pretty big, in the 6 figure range. That being the case the will often sell a car at a loss if that is the 1 car they need to meet their number, but often wont do that until they get pretty close.
