New Member - Factory Turnaround Time

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and I thought that this might be the best place to ask my question.

Last week I placed an order for a Grand Cherokee and as most people would be, I'm excited and a little impatient. Can anyone shed some light on what is a realistic timeframe to expect delivery?

The dealer told me that it would be between 6 - 8 weeks from the day that he put the order in. I have yet to receive and email saying that my Jeep is scheduled for production.

Any information would be helpful, and reassuring.

Your dealer is probably pretty close on that time frame for arrival.. Just don't let it eat at you while you are waiting..

I'm at eight weeks and counting. Some have waited longer than that but I've also seen some who ordered after me and shipped before. Hopefully you'll be on the shorter end of your dealer's estimate. Good luck!

I ordered on Mar 29 and took delivery May 13, so about 7 weeks but it felt like years. I didn't get the first email from Jeep until about a week and a half after I ordered at the dealer. That being said, it was well worth the wait! If you want the latest up to date info, I highly recommend donating to Jeepforum and using the MOTS order tracking. Much more up to date and detailed than Jeep's, though you go crazy looking at it everyday

Re: New Member - Factory Turnaround Time

I was quoted 4 weeks. I ordered 4/17 and the dealer said it's suppose to ship 5/16 (tomorrow) and be here sometime around the 20th. I think it depends on what options you get and where you're located. The average seems to be 6-7 weeks though.

Also, FWIW, I never received anything from Chrysler, I checked my spam folder and nothing was showing there either...so I just send my dealer emails to get an update.

You can always sign up on the site (Level III or higher) and Milous will track your vehicle. This way you know exactly when it is coming and don't have to worry about Chrysler updates. Their site updates maybe daily, Milous can update multiple times a day.

Re: New Member - Factory Turnaround Time

Thanks everyone for the advice and your stories of waiting.

I have upgraded to Level III here and have PMed Milous with my VON, so hopefully I'll get an update soon.

The VOTs system is still down and from what I hear either it will be July before it's back up, or it might be taken down altogether.

VOTS Tracking is basically useless. Milous tracking is much more efficient and updated multiple times per day. It is the only thing that has kept me waiting. If I relied on VOTS, I may have bailed on the order. I am sitting at just over 9 weeks and looks like 10 weeks to the day from order to delivery for me. There were some QC issues it looks like Jeep had to resolve on some models so hopefully that won't happen to you and you will get your quicker.

Re: New Member - Factory Turnaround Time

I placed order with the dealer on 4/6/14.
Got email from VOTS saying order processed on 4/9
Production scheduled 4/11
Built 5/5
Shipped 5/8
Arrived at dealer 5/20
So it was a little over 6 weeks. Seemed longer.

Pretty simple build. LTD with Nav and power sunroof.

Good luck.

Re: New Member - Factory Turnaround Time

Thanks for the information.

I reached out to Jeep Customer Service and they stated that VOTS will be down until sometime around August. Instead I took the advise of other users on this site and use the MOTS service on this forum. I got more information that I thought that I'd get.

Date Order: 05/07/2014
D1 Date: 05/13/2014
Estimated Delivery Date: 06/13/2014

My Jeep isn't that odd either:

Limited 4x4, Lux II, Off Road II and Nav
Max. Steel exterior and Black interior

I think that the combo of the colors is what made it difficult to find, especially down here in Houston.

Re: New Member - Factory Turnaround Time

Are the updates from Milous any different than calling into Jeep?

Like night and day. Calling into Jeep they give you the scripted "customer service" answer and which of the 5 "phases" your car is in. Milous gives updates 2-3 times a day (sometimes more) an has much more detailed information. Also when there was a delay, someone on the forum (usually Milous or WillX) we're extremely helpful. There would be about 10 less Jeep owners who would have jumped ship from lack of information for Jeep or just overall frustration with the waiting. Milous kept many of us sane.
