Re: New member looking to become GCO owner

You can certainly "roll your own" "Altitude" post-purchase and many folks do things similar to that, but I do understand you'd like to get those features from the factory. That has not been the type of thing that Jeeps has been inclined to offer in North America, although the MY15 Summit does have an extra cost exterior option that throws off some of the chrome for folks who like that.

Re: New member looking to become GCO owner

Well went to dealer yesterday for test drive. Took out a V6 overland really wanted to test the V8 but did not have a V8 demo available. No biggie as it was snowing anyway. Was very impressed with fit and finish of interior. I was very comfortable in the driver seat. The heated wheel is very nice but the seats are a little disappointing heat wise. As the heat is only in the center of seat so the bolsters are freezing. Not a big issue though. Overall driving impression was very satisfying. As it is very quiet in the cabin no outside noise. A very solid vehicle which handles very nice. The ride is very very smooth and I hit a few potholes just soaked them right up. The V6 was not so bad but still going with the V8. It was the trans I did not care for upshifts way to quick for my liking. It was in seventh by like 40mph. Was not able to give it a good go though due to the snow. Overall immpression of the GC very very good me likey. So good in fact I decided to place an order for an Overland. I wrote everything up and left a deposit. I just need to decide what color and call dealer to process my order.
What I ordered
2015 GC Overland
Color TBD
Black interior
5.7 Hemi
Engine block heater
Off Road Adventure Package

The dealership experience was great to there was none of the usual BS you have to put up with before you get down to the bottom line. The saleswoman I dealt with was very open and honest she came right out with the invoice and asked what I wanted to pay for the GC. I gave her a figure and off she went to the manager with it. 5 mins later they both come back with printouts in hand. Now I'am thinking ok here comes the we can't possibly sell you this GC for this price speech. But to my surprise the manager sits down and says I ran the numbers and I can give it to you for 45.00 more than your figure. I say write it up. The manager sat there and thoroughly explained all the figures on the printouts as to my leasing options. Either through chrysler or or an IDL Independant Dealer lease. He even stated that he will honor my incentives reguardless of what they are upon delivery but if they change for the better he will apply them also. I cannot lose. Needless to say I was overwhelmed at the treatment. Everything upfront no cloak and dagger act. They even gave me copies of the printouts which no dealer ever does for fear of using it as ammo at another dealer. So very pleased with the deal I got. Now just have to decide what color my saleswoman is on vacation for one week so I have a few days to decide.

Yes, a lot of us do, and I'd buy another new one if I could get that from the factory. I actually came up with the Altitude concept and Jeep took it from my description on this website, someone else on this forum had the black wheels idea though. My idea was to have it for the Overland, not the Laredo though. I took my 2012 Overland V8 Hemi and turned it into an Altitude (minus the black wheels, not my thing). I can also say that I don't really notice MDS and power is always available. Mine is Brilliant Black, I love it and get compliments all the time.

What? You do realize manufacturers of all different vehicles have had blacked out editions of their cars for years. Before you came up with the concept. It was only fitting that Jeep answers with what the market shows as popular and profitable.

The funny thing is I can picture you telling people you meet that Jeep took your idea from this forum.
Wow ...people never cease to amaze me.

So who's the brain surgeon who thought a blacked out rig should retain chrome window trim? Just sayin'

Re: New member looking to become GCO owner

I'd definitely check out the deep cherry and max steel. Cherry would have been my alt and then white.

Scott told me Jeep got the idea from this forum. They rolled out the Altitude style as a pre-production concept at a couple of auto shows (Houston and D.C.) a week after I started the thread including a poll that the overwelming majority at jeepgarage thought it was a good idea (80%+). You put two and two together. I never said I was the first to have the idea.

Got it ...A major car manufacturer made a major business decision and completed concept cars all in a week after reading your thread. Makes sense now. thanks for clearing it up.

Re: New member looking to become GCO owner

OP I had the same tough decision to make about the color and here were some of my thoughts on the choices:

Cashmere-Don't even remember this being an option before but no thanks

Silver/Green/Blue-Never really gave these much thought, they don't do it for me but none of them are ugly

Granite-Current Jeep is graphite and I love it but granite is too light for my tastes.

White-You can't go wrong here and I've seen some pics where the chrome really pops off the white but I live in Wisconsin and I've always stayed away from white because of the dirty roads.

Max Steel-This was the color I was going to go with but I chickened out. They had two of them at the dealership and it was cloudy out and I wasn't so sure. I felt like this color had the most upside but also the most downside. It's really unique but I could see myself not liking it a few years down the road.

Cherry Red-Didn't give this color much thought at the time but man after seeing some more pics this color looks really good. I've never been a red guy but if I were ordering today I would give it some serious consideration.

Black-Went with this because I think it really looks good with the chrome and I know I will not regret it. I don't think it has as much upside as some of the other colors though, white, red and max steel specifically.

Re: New member looking to become GCO owner

Yes the Dark cherry is really starting to grow on me. But if it is not sunny out all the colors look kind of dull. Except white as you cannot see the metallic in them. Waiting for a sunny day to go to dealer and make up my mind. Oh and Granite is not light at all it is very dark. You might be thinking of Billet Silver. Which is not bad looking either.
