Re: New member looking to become GCO owner

To clarify I mean it is lighter than graphite. They only used that color for a few years before going with a much lighter mineral gray and now granite. Both are ok colors they just aren't dark enough for my tastes.

But now that I have gotten some real world feedback on this issue I feel much better about the V8 come order time. Also like you have stated you get the bulletproof trans. Thanks to everyone for putting my worries to rest. I actually just returned from a jeep dealer thats 45 mins from my house. Wanted to see some different colors besides Black, White, Silver. They had Dark cherry, True Blue, Max Steel. all very nice colors but then I saw a Black pearl altitude sitting out in the sun and WOW that color is unbelievable. Especially with the black wheels. I think that might be my choice. Its a shame you can not order an Overland Altitude. I think buyers would be all over that package. Was planning to go inside and go for a test drive as they had quite a few V8s. But in the middle of my drooling over the altitude got a text from the other half with a picture of her dashboard with check engine light on so had to cut the visit short and shoot home to investigate. I guess I will have to wait till next week.
Caution: Visits to dealer showrooms may cause addiction.

The Black Pearl is one of the few colors that I think looks good with the blacked out interior. Did it have the Mopar black wheels, or were they just offering to swap them out for the Mopar blacks? I'd consider the Mopar mud flaps to help keep the sides a bit protected. I haven't run into any issues even in really deep snow with them.

Get the V8 up to 50ish, and see if you can feel MDS kicking in/out. But first, leave it in ECO mode and see if you can even feel many of the upshifts in a gentle take off--one like gas being 10 dollars a gallon or so. Of course then you must try sport mode take off...

The funny thing is I can picture you telling people you meet that Jeep took your idea from this forum.
Wow ...people never cease to amaze me.
Hey, maybe Jeep DID take the idea from him on this forum!!

Maybe they never saw an old Buick Grand National [back when Buicks still came with cojones] or a Taurus SHO, etc. etc.

Re: New member looking to become GCO owner

Don't sweat the V8 in snow, even if you stand on it a tad.
Just get rid of the factory Michelin Latitudes and drop some Nokian Hakka studs on it.
If your snow is mild, the Michelin LTX MS-2 works pretty good as an excellent all season. For heavier snow/ice you'll probably be happier with dedicated severe weather snows on separate rims.

Re: New member looking to become GCO owner

Well just got home from dealer ordered up a Granite crystal Overland. I actually went to order the Billet silver but before I went into showroom I took a walk out back. Just wanted to see it one more time before ordering. And wouldn't you know it there were 2 freshly detailed Granites sitting there. Now I start looking them over and having second thoughts about the Billet. So after 15 mins of looking I changed my mind and went in and ordered the Granite. The sales manager said he would be putting order in today. So when should I expect to hear something as far as a VON or VIN. This will be my first Jeep so I have a lot to learn. Cannot wait to get it. Thanks very much to all the members here this is a great forum with a wealth of information. Oh here's a few pics from today.

You probably won't hear anything, just call or email the dealer in week or so for the VIN.

Re: New member looking to become GCO owner

Well the wait is almost over my GC Overland was built last nite. Cannot wait to see it. A little update though I had ordered the Granite but after a couple of days of looking at the Members Rides here I called and had my order changed to Billet Silver. I have already ordered the BT catch can and a whole load of Jeep accessories. Also have some custom 20x10 inch rims getting made right now. According to the Milous factory tracking should be here on 2/19. So just a little longer till I'am a Jeep Garage owner.
