New member. Ordering my Overland TONIGHT! What color? help!!!

I have my appointment to go to my local Jeep dealership TONIGHT to order my new Overland. I am 100% set on everything except exterior color. The specs are:
2011 Overland Hemi 4x4
-Saddle interior
-Pano roof (dont want rear DVD)
-Adaptive cruise package

For the exterior colors I am still undecided between Dark Charcoal or Mineral Gray. I came across some amazing pictures from forum member Nbtstatic and his new Dark Charcoal and I think thats what I have my heart set on. That paint with saddle interior I think would be unbelievable. I must admit though looks incredible with his beige interior.

Now I do understand that saddle in apparently on hold however my dealership said they can still order it but could obviously take a looong time to get. He said they are a very high volume dealer here in the Chicago area and they have even been able to get things expedited before. How true that is I dont know, but as long as I can get my order in I dont care as I wasnt planning on buying one until summer anyway.

Soooo, what are your thoughts?

Mineral Gray with saddle or Dark Charcoal with saddle? As of now im leaning towards Charcoal as every picture I see of mineral just doesnt look good. Maybe it doesnt take pictures well I dont know but im thinking its going to be just too light. I have seen it in person and like it and in videos on youtube. But I have seen no high quality pictures that have me sold on it (unlike Nbtstatic's pics).

Thanks,
James

Nbstatic's killer photography could make Igor look like a supermodel.

That said, both Dark Charcoal and Mineral Grey are spectacular. You're already in for a long wait ordering Saddle.

I'd go with mineral gray. With dark charcoal, you're basically getting a watered-down black that's just as hard to keep clean looking as black. With mineral gray, it'll be sustantially easier to keep looking clean.

Besides, I think it's a better color, anyway. Not as good as [clean] black, but easily my 2nd favorite.

FYI, Check the dealer's computer to verify you can order a non-summit
with Saddle interior. The dark charcoal is so close to black, my suggestion
is to park them side-by-side...then choose, as this is something you will have
to live with. Enjoy

Yes I certainly will be I spoke with the dealership today and they said it can be ordered. Im keeping my fingers crossed and I will report back when I get home later to see what happens. We all know how dealerships are lol

I have seen all the colors in person and like I said I like both mineral and charcoal. I dont mind having a dark car thats tough to keep clean as I am a neat freak and anal about detailing. Just ask the future Overlands roommate (2006 Z06 vette) about that :-) It just seems that in every picture mineral looks somewhat boring where as when clean that charcoal just looks stunning. Alright im going to take a ride over to the stealership maybe they have both colors around to compare (even if they are laredo's).

I prefer the mineral gray. The light has to be just right before I can make the distinction between black, blackberry and dark charcoal. I actually think green looks best with saddle but that color doesn't seem to be finding many takers.

Since mine is Dark Charcoal, I am baised. I think Mineral Gray is too light.

Re: New member. Ordering my Overland TONIGHT! What color? help!!!

We drove by the Jeep dealership last night, and they had a bunch of jeeps lined up. My wife spotted the Mineral Gray, and said that is by far her favorite. I'm glad that is what I have on order....

Re: New member. Ordering my Overland TONIGHT! What color? help!!!

There's probably nothing that is more subjective or based on personal preference than color selection.

I briefly considered the Charcoal but like others thought it was too close to black for my taste. I am also a clean car guy but that's tough especially during this time of year. Mineral Gray does a very nice job of catching the light off of the WK2's sheet metal creases even when it's got a coating of dust. But if you're torn between the two colors, I don't think you can go wrong. Go with Charcoal if you're leaning that way! Good luck with the order.

Re: New member. Ordering my Overland TONIGHT! What color? help!!!

I had the same decision, I thought Charcoal was what I wanted until I saw it side by side with Mineral Gray and Black. Ended up ordering Mineral Gray. I really wanted the Saddle but unless they have changed the option since the 27th (and that's quite possible) the dealer can't even select the Saddle interior so your car will not be "ordered", meaning put into Chrysler's system, until that option is released and the dealer can select it. It makes no difference how large the dealer is, they all use the same ordering system.

I'm not making this up or repeating what someone else told me, I sat there in front of the computer with the GM as we entered my order and was on speaker phone with the factory when they told him they did not know when Saddle would be opened on the ordering system and even if it was, when it might actually get built. Since I MUST have a vehicle by mid March I ended up ordering a Mineral Gray w/ Black Overland 4X4 V8 (25P package). After spending some time in a black on black Overland I think I like the black interior better so I'm actually glad we couldn't order it.

Oh, and you would think that combo with no other options would be something I could find but there isn't one available within 500 miles and none of the local dealers have a stock order in the pipeline.
