Re: New Overland Owner

Thanks everyone. So here is a report back after a weekend of ownership. I love it more now then when I picked it up! I have about 125mi on it over the weekend, all city driving and so far far the Jeep is performing like a champ. City driving is wonderful, the Jeep is nice and quite, while the V8 provides more then enough power both off the line and for passing on the highway.

I am amazed at the turn radius of this thing, navigating through tight city streets and alleyways is a breeze. While this jeep is larger then my old WJ it drives like it is smaller (expect I feel like I am sitting up higher).

So far, I have had several random people come up and comment on how amazing they thought the jeep looked , there is no doubt that it definately seems to be a head turner.

So far, so good, up to Vail on Wed so we will see how it does loaded with people over the mountain passes

Re: New Overland Owner

One more update. I finally got around to paring my Samsung Focus (Windows Phone 7) device to the 430 and like other smartphone users I had mixed results. The Bluetooth phone part worked flawlessly including voce dialing. Reading incoming TXT messages and sending one of the pre-selected text messages worked as well but A2DP bluetooth pauses every few seconds so while it pairs fine BT Streaming is worthless right now. A2DP audio controls to pause and move forward/backward worked just fine but as expected there was no album art on the screen (the A2DP profile doesnt support that).

Re: New Overland Owner

Nice. The only thing I don't like about mineral gray is the black plastic around the wheel wells. They should match the paint.

hehe I actually like the black moulding around the wheel wells, not sure why but I think it is a nice tie in from the wheel to the body.

I agree, and of course it's a personal preference and highly subjective. I like a little contrast and an overall understated color scheme in my vehicles so that it projects some character. To my eye, there's not a thing I can find to complain about with the Mineral Gray/black leather color scheme.

In fact, the vehicle I am planning on bringing home this week is almost an exact replica of yours, except for the rack. I think I may wait to see if Yakima comes out with towers that are compatible with the factory rails. I have two hitchmount bike racks but I've always wanted to try the roofmount approach. It just seems to be more...effortless.
