New RRT for front half shafts

They issued an RRT for the grease in the wheels problem. So it looks like vehicles built between march 2nd and april 21st will be getting new front half shafts as they come in for service.

Seen this in other parts of forum.
Question.... As stated all those vehicles will get new Axles as and when issue arises BUT the
RRT VIP and or VIP lists require change out before sale off the Lot???

Anyone know how this is suppose to work..?

An RRT is not when the issue arises. It means as those vehicles come in for any type of service also replace both front half shafts. If it were a TSB that would be when the issue arises.

Re: New RRT for front half shafts

The wording of the TV is confusing for me.
It seems to Indicate there are two lists VIP AND THE RRT VIN. If your vehicle's VIN Is listed in either then it suggests immediate change even before vehicle is sold off the lot.
If your not on the list then if your vehicle shows signs of cv boot issue they will replace at that time.

I have a vehicle waiting to be picked up tuesday it is within the build dates listed..... Is it on a VIP or RRT VIN... has the axles been replaced already... I doubt it.... Do you see what I am getting at.

Appreciate your help and advice.

Re: New RRT for front half shafts

If it was built within the date criteria, insist that they are changed prior to you accepting the vehicle.

How about VIP is something the dealer can use to see if a vehicles Vin is included in the list. TSBs are written for the service departments. Making them available to the public is good, but the terminology is often confusing.

All you need to do is have your sales rep confirm your vin is on the list and it was done. There will be an internal work order so the dealer can be reimbursed for the work.

Ouch - what is that...60,000 vehicles? See took about 3 months to get to bottom of the problem.

I can't prove it, but I think they have had that VIN info for at least a month or so. I took mine in before our trip out west and asked them about the CV issue. The service manager got my VIN and checked something on his computer and told me I was fine. 3300 miles later, no problems.

I don't have the washers listed on my repair order.....should I be worried if they didn't replace those? hmm...

If you have followed my posts, what my dealer has said previously is that JA told them mine was not affected and not on their list but two vehicles were and I got that info 3 weeks ago.

The question has been is there a list or not for several weeks now.

I have been reordered twice on this vehicle and the pickup date has changed 4times so flying up Monday and picking up Tuesday, so I am not in a position to cancel the pickup.

I guess I check again Tuesday with the dealer and if I am on the RRT VIN or their VIP and it's not been done I'll be negotiating hard on a reduced cost for extended warranty.... Personally I'm sick of all the BS that comes with this purchase.

Thanks to all for taking the time to post and helping to shed light on this issue for me and all.

Cheers.

Yeah - but you haven't even picked yours up yet! LOL

According to the bulletin, Jeep WILL replace the axles BEFORE it is sold if your VIN is on the list. They are being proactive once they got a handle on the problem.

You'll enjoy it....I am loving my 2014 Summit.
