Re: New Summit for New York Auto Show

Okay I understand about how the system works now. If it is now standard in the MY 17 what was the choice before? What really changed?

Now as to the upgrading of the dealership. That is a big problem in lots of dealerships across the nation. It is surely one of the reasons some people only buy the up scale vehicles. They want , they expect different treatment from the people that paid far less money on their transportation.
Now that many cars and trucks are in the 50 and 60 K price range. Some people see the need to be upgraded in their treatment. I'm not convinced that JGC dealers see it that way.

Waiting rooms are in different buildings for Lexus and Toyota customers. Do you want a different building waiting room for the Jeep / Chrysler / Dodge mix? And when the Jeep Wagoneer comes is it going to be treated like a RR / Porsche / BMW / Mercedes.

They have been full time for many years. The ones that are listed as 2wd are ONLY 2wd (no front axle at all).

Nothing has changed...except they are actually providing the WD-II with ELSD with the V6 on the Summit and Trailhawk. That wasn't the case previously. QD-II with ELSD was only available with the Hemi and EcoDiesel.

Does seem kinda silly, I agree. Wonder how many of these will be 4x4 vs 4x2?
Suppose that will depend on where it is sold (& used) - sunny southern Cal. or rocky mountain(ous) high Colorado / flats of Florida or mountains of Maine!

Bill, Bill . . . If only I weren't so "old school," I could download many a photo of me and the Ram1500 far off on many a Washington & Oregon old logging road or old Railroad that follow many a fine free flowing or dammed River.
But, until recently (new small Panasonic Digital waterproof camera) was using an old 35 mm Fugi (1986 variety) ! But my fishing adventure "fish porn" shots are on film hanging on a wall or in an "old school" album.
But, I promise that when I get off the sofa and get into my new 2017 Laredo I WILL take Digital photos download them I do my best to show them HERE. Probably late Fall this year. Keep ya posted.

Summit with 20s aired down on a beach with 8"+ of very soft sand. Ran in "Sand Mode" in OR-II with zero issues. With four adult-sized folks inside and a variety of beach "luggage".

And then there are the muddy parking lots with 5000+ lbs of horse trailer and trailer behind it.

All off road isn't Moab...
That is Funny, I love it! I think the "GARAGE" needs a new "TOPIC" a "show & tell" if you will of Owners & their WK2's "off roading - pictures a must ! and so it shall be suggested . . . stand by !

Fly', as I noted in your new thread, there are tons of threads here that show members doing off-road stuff, including some challenging things. You're relatively new here, so you might not have seen them...just go spelunking...

Re: New Summit for New York Auto Show

What the summit really needs is adjustable shocks that also change with the 4x4 modes (or hell, mag ride!). Would be really nice if sport stiffened up the shocks when it lowered the suspension down. And it could also soften the shocks for off-road modes. Too bad the air suspension doesn't work the opposite way, getting stiffer when low and looser when raised. I know it's not a 'sporty' SUV, but it'd be nice to have something that was sporty at a lower price than the damn $70k SRT.

It isn't just the waiting room, it is policies on things like loaner vehicles and general service/treatment. With the hellcats you're having vehicles approaching the 6 figure mark. Yet, you show up to a dealership standing in line listening to country music (no offense to country music fans) before you're treated to a "hey bub, what you want?" and the dance begins, concluding with the typical service you would expect on a cheap used car lot. Yes, I know a couple of dealerships are exceptions, but I haven't seen a decent dealership in years and I know there isn't one around me (I have tried 5).

Re: New Summit for New York Auto Show

dcorn, that kind of change is probably not in the cards for the last two years of the platform, but perhaps the next generation might having some new features around suspension at the upper end. We can only wish for some things!

High Jim. Yup a newbie I is; born yesterday, ha ha. I did some of that there spelunking (caving) when I was at University (Utah of all places, me a N.Y. transplant!) - Oh the darkness !
I may search a bit, BUT I'd rather see the type of "family" camping outing type stuff as I described earlier. Some action shots are good too, showing some, you know, "wheel articulation" or up hill/ down hill crap in my pants stuff
Guess I should 1st go to my new thread and see what has shown up. It would be nice to have just 1 dedicated site for this, IMHO ! A few days and we shall see . . . or not . . . as it fades into page 2 . . .

If you're playing in the $50k+ market (and they are!) they need to start offering comparable service.
I transitioned to Jeep from luxury brands. Other than loaners, I have not exactly been impressed with service experiences of Lexus, Infiniti, etc., particularly in light of the overall cost of ownership and service.
