Tried a small area - no dice. Must be under the laminate

Dealer said bring it back and they would clean them with a special acid process. They cleaned them and they looked better. Then we had several days of storms.Had the rig washed this morning all the imperfections are back. It is really bad on a clear day. The car wash guys tried and tried to clean the windows - they still look bad. Nothing helps, glass cleaner, window stain cleaners, wax - nothing does it. They really look bad especially in the direct sun. It is going back to the dealer first thing Monday morning. Anyone else had an issue like this? Funny thing this Jeep had a sticker on it stating that the car was pulled off the line for quality checks and thus had some miles on it. New - $60K Jeep - They will be fixing this. I'm worried that replacing all the windows will result in additional inflicted issues .

Ideas?
So I entered the VIN on CARFAX and it says theres 5 records for the VIN on our Summit. Seems odd for a new vehicle to have 5 records, I'm tempted to pay the $40 to see the report......

The records will say "vehicle serviced" "vehicle offered for sale" vehicle sold" "vehicle color noted as xx" "loan or lein reported" and junk like that.

Would it show the movement from dealer to dealer? Might sound crazy but could someone have bought it got into the window situation and the dealer unwound the paperwork? I would think not as Chrysler Captial has 5 year zero int note on the rig as new with us.

Re: New Summit with Glass Problems

Laminated glassnis cured in an autoclave and that makes the vinyl clear. The vinyl was probably contaminated and m became more apparent with time. Maybe some hot/cold cycles made it more apparent. Hard to say. I used to work for PPG and we made aftermarket windshields. Ive seen them pass inspection...leave the plant and them come back minths later like this. It was always contaminated vinyl.

Thanks! - this makes sense. Maybe I've got two things going on, water spots on the rear panels and back liftgate window and the contaminated windows on the front ones as these are designed for sound proofing on the Summit.

Re: New Summit with Glass Problems

Some photos taken today - lots of sun...

It gets pretty bad if you clean the window with windex and or any other cleaner.

These photos are after I tried like crazy to clean the glass, again.

Looks like the windshield and the moon roof are OK the rest are all bad. I'm pretty on edge and hoping this does not turn into a big fight, we just got this rig.

Re: New Summit with Glass Problems

Hi guys, good news. Salesperson called, Jeep has approved replacement of all glass and the mirrors on our Summit. He did mention that Jeep wanted some of the glass sent to them for analysis. Thanks for all of the suggestions and support!

Re: New Summit with Glass Problems

Patience and persistence prevailed.

Doesnt always work out that way.

But its good when it does.

NOW you can put that behind you and get-on with enjoying your new Jeep.

Ahhhh.....
