Re: New SUV turned Minivan??

lol, I thought the pic/post was a joke at first glance - seriously what is Nissan Thinking?

No wonder nobody has seen the commercials, who watches minivan commercials?

Re: New SUV turned Minivan??

It seems to be selling pretty well, and it's quite nice looking in general.

Sales of the old Pathfinder were low. Nobody wanted it but a very few people because they were stiff (body on frame), heavy (body on frame), got terrible fuel economy (big V6 and V8 option), and the interior was on the cheap side. Personally, I liked them, but we looked at one for the wifey and she hated it - oddly both because it drove like a truck.

This new model will outsell the old one easily and heavily because it fixes all those things. V8 powered rugged SUVs are on their way out, because only a handful of people use that capability, and the majority of consumers care more about ride comfort, interior materials and quality and comfort, and fuel economy.

It was a smart decision to stay in business. They still offer the Armada for people who need a full on truck SUV.

"four-wheel-drive lock for those moments when the driver is in WTF mode and wants to rip apart the bumper covers by going off-road."

I laughed so hard coffee shot out of my nose!

I don't think the WK2 looks like a van at all. But yes that Nissan just looks goofy.

Re: New SUV turned Minivan??

While i don't like it, I don't think it looks as bad as the pic posted. IMO, it actually looks a little durango'ish and more so a sport wagon/subaru feel to it.

Re: New SUV turned Minivan??

Say all you want ... it looks minivan to me. It is painful to watch this as I currently have 01 Pathfinder sitting in my driveway. They still have Xterra but one thing that I don't like about it is the fact that 4WD system is outdated. Not sure why they cannot put All-Mode 4WD system from Pathfinder on it.

RIP Pathfinder.

Re: New SUV turned Minivan??

My neighbor just traded in their 2011 Pathfinder for the new one.
I think it's similar to the Subaru Forester type vehicle. Much shorter height.

I drove it and it feels like a station wagon...that poor engine will be overworked for sure when you load up 5 kids and all their crap!

Re: New SUV turned Minivan??

A minivan is fwd, like the current Exploder. If this one is fwd, they can make it look like a Hummer and it will still be a minivan. If the GC goes fwd I'll never buy one.

Re: New SUV turned Minivan??

I think they're plenty nice, as well as the Infiniti JX model mate.

It'll sell much better than the square, Toyota FJ's previous Pathfinder. Lot of demand for models like this.

Personally though? I'd rather have an ACTUAL minivan if I had a bunch of kids. These vehicles have more style, but not a whole lot and you loose a big reason Minivans are so great for a family with kids, a big square interior with very adjustable seating, flat floor, and sliding side doors.
