Re: New Tires HELP!

I usually go to tirerack.com and read the reviews & surveys of the tires that fit the vehicle I have. Lots of good info on there even if you don't buy from them.

Re: New Tires HELP!

I've been running Nitto Terra Grapplers for 30,000 miles and love them. They come in stock size and work "well" in all conditions. I put quotes because obviously a dedicated winter tire would outperform it in winter conditions but I use it all year long and have never been left stranded.

Plus with rotating every 6,000 they are wearing fine and expect another 20-30,000 out of them.

Re: New Tires HELP!

Greetings,

This fall Nokian will be upgrading the product line again. I do know that any number ending in 7 should be upgraded to 8.

Best for now.

Needed tires for my F150 today bcz I ran over a screw and tires were old anyway. dealer tried to talk me into that brand in a 275/55R20 size. looked good. But I went a different route. Decent reviews but from what I've seen they wear quickly and are a kind of "best of both worlds" without being GREAT at either. If they had been less expensive or available in the 275/60R20 that I wanted, I may have tried them as well

Greetings,

I another great tire to look into that might fit your functions is the GY Duratrac's.
There is great information on it in the regular forum under Suspensions, Brakes, etc....

Best for now.

thanks, I've already purchased tires though.
The Duratracs look awesome, I wanted those for a long time. But IMO they are overpriced, and wear fairly quickly. I've been on truck forums for a few years and that seems to be the consensus.

Greetings,

Usually, a commercial grade tire does give you a long tire life span depending on the road conditions. Believe or not, I found the Pet Boys Dakota AT gives me a solid performance for the van.

In any event, good luck with your purchase.

Best for now.

I hate to break it to you but your next 20,000 you will notice an incredible drop-off in the performance of those tires. They're great for about 30,000. After that they are just OK- especially on ice/snow they will be very slick.

The best all around on-road/off-road tough tire that's still quiet and handles great in dry/rain/snow/ice/mud are the Goodyear all terrain adventure w/ kevlar. Beyond that I got 90,000 out of my first set and if it wasn't winter I could have still driven them for another 10,000 miles.

That is good to know.
I ran over a bolt and had to get 4 new tires too, a couple months ago. Got towed to a Jensen Tire which sells Goodyear, didn't want those and they couldn't get Nokian that day but had one set of Hankook tires in their warehouse which I went with those. Pretty happy with them. Hankook AS RH07 265/50 R20
